Wyoming's New Firearms Legislation
This is sort of my swipe at the current thread on Colorado's new legislation. Effective July 1, 2021, today, you no longer have to be a Wyoming resident in order to carry concealed. Neither are you required to have a permit. You do have to be 21 and otherwise in good standing under applicable Federal law. See? We can pass gun laws too!

I love it...I wish Georgia would do this, but then, there is metro Atlanta to contend with. We do have some counties declaring themselves as 2nd amendment sanctuaries. I'd like to see the entire state do that.
I lived in Casper Wyo as a kid and Billings MT as a young man...I love the independent attitude. We need more of it nationwide.

Good on Wyoming, and any state going full Constitutional carry. I think I'll drive up to the medicine bow region and camp to celebrate.

Looks like Medicine Bow Peak and the Snowy Range to me. And we’ll let you carry your sidearm there too!

I already had the ability as a CO permit holder, and yep, Medicine Bow Peak. Not the hardest climb but if you try and do it for time it gets fun (as long as you get up early enough to beat the crowds). Beautiful little trout in those lakes too.

If you haven't already Join the Georgia Carry Organization. They've been the real movers with the legislature over the past 10 years in Georgia. They also sponsor lawsuits when municipalities or judges disregard the law. Well worth every penny.

I was thinking of retiring to ND, but WY is certainly looking attractive. 👍
And no, snow and cold do not really bother me.

Wyoming and North Dakota do look good, but snow and cold weather do bother me. The older I get, the more painful cold weather becomes.

Having lived in both states I say cold and wind are good things.
They act as crowd inhibitors.

Wife and I are taking about selling the house next year and moving to a Free State. Wyoming.
Still close to the kids and grandkids.
But don't have to live with the constant threats on guns.

For those of us who have been accustomed to travelling with directions based on road maps, signs, intersections, cattle guards, or even wind mills, Wyoming may pose some problems for you. Wyoming directions usually start out from "the tree", all the local people know where it is because there is only one for a hundred miles in any direction. The daily winds take away all the road signs, trees, and other common references, along with the paint on your automobiles.
Good idea to stay away from the Jackson Hole area. All the Hollywood types seem to show up there; pretty obvious because their $2000 boots are the only ones without cow pie residue around the soles, and their Stetsons cost more than the local folks make in a year or so, not to mention the $100K SUVs they are driving. Most Wyoming residents stay far away from Jackson Hole, even if they can afford the jacked-up California tourist prices.
I could be pretty comfortable within an hour drive of Cheyenne or Laramie, big enough to find what you need but small enough to get around easily and get to know people.
Did I mention the wind? Fresh air delivered constantly, usually at high velocity, sometimes packed with minerals picked up miles away and delivered to you for free.
Just joking with my neighbors to the north. Kinda. Sorta.

Some exaggeration there about the wind and weather but not much. We like it, though - keeps the riff raff out. 😜 You don’t have to be especially tough to live here but you do have to be real stubborn! No exaggeration at all about Jackson. It’s all true. I avoid that place at every opportunity!

Just so Ya'll stop in Wyoming. With the wind there is no smog. Cause there are few cars helps. Going further North brings more snow and cold.

I drove thru the Snowy range coming back from Utah a few years ago... found it interesting that the west side of every mountain seemed super-dry and the east side was nicely wooded. Camped at a place that used to be a prisoner of war camp? Beautiful area.

People don’t understand about the wind in Wyoming. It doesn’t blow in Wyoming, it’s just passing through.

Yeesh, who one-starred this thread and why?
It would make sense if this were about Gun Control Legislation, but this is Pro-2A legislation which really ought to be celebrated.

Florida, with 102 Republicans holding a Supermajority in the Legislature and having a Republican Governor.... killed Constitutional Carry yet again.

I’ve been to Wyoming three times....1982, a 3 week Antelope, Mule Deer and Elk Hunt on Horseback out of Turpin Meadow, visited Jackson and the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar and went to the Buffalo Bill (Winchester Gun Museum) in Cody...than back to Upton..Took my Wife there in 1988 on our Honeymoon, Trail ride out of Turpin, Elaine still there, and last time in 2003 with our Daughter...One of the Guys I had hunted with was in Gillette and wanted to see us...We wound up spending the day riding his Horses....Some of the best People I ever met, BUT they will tell You there’s nothing between Wyoming and the North Pole ‘cept a barb wire fence and half of that is down.....May- August, than it gets really COLD, especially high up...If You move there, You want to be in Town with Electric Power and Running water...Not up on a Mountaintop.

Lander.
And, oh, my, do they whine when they get a little breeze.
Beginning (or continuing, depending upon who you ask) to lean a bit to the left, but the rest of us in the county are constantly trying to right them whenever we get a chance.
shift gears...
When I lived in Laramie my daughter, who lived about two hours north, asked me if I knew how to tell when it was spring in the state.
I hesitated a little -- knowing it was a trick question -- and she said, "The license plates turn green."

Trespassing
Dakota Territory (S & N), the same here;
Transplants need not apply, in other kind
words, stay out.
One example; Deadwood several years ago
had a Woman from California running for
Mayor. Needless to say she lost by a huge
margin. I'm thankful South Dakotans saw
through her ways.
