As a society, is America at the place where we're saying it's lawful (and moral) to kill people for simple theft? The kid didn't break into the car. The firefighter left it running with the doors unlocked. Like firesticks mentioned a couple posts back, it must have really meant a lot to him.
People complain about how barbaric radical Islam is. Rightly so, but they're just lopping off hands for theft.

No. I don’t believe in killing for simple theft. If the owner ran out and the kid gave up and was shot anyway, I’d have a problem with it. That didn’t happen here. What DID happen is a man left his car running and door open (not illegal), and somebody who didn’t work to own that car decided to take it. The owner did what I believed most of us would do: he got in front and yelled stop. The kid did not. For some reason, the owner feared for his life. I give the lawful owner the benefit of the doubt until I hear otherwise.
Anybody else see a problem here? The owner jumped IN FRONT of th car. The kid was backing up. Owner shot from driver side window. How do you go from being in front of the car as it backs up to being next to it? Owner HAD to have ran up to the drivers door as he backed up to rip him out. Now he’s right next to a 4000 pound moving vehicle and the thief ain’t stopping. Different story.
Nah. Until I see concrete evidence he was wrong, inside with the LT.

If it was deemed a GOOD SHOOT under Illinois law the shooter can NOT be sued ..

It's unfotunate but there's PLENTY of blame to go around. The victim probably shares some blame from not being cautious. At the very least, he has the weight of taking a life. Maybe his employment will be lost, he may do prison time.
The punks parents share responsibilty but apparently are choosing to be victims as well.
The thief doesn't have to worry about anything...anymore.

Nah, just has a busted window, probably a good dent from wherever it came to a stop, and some new holes and stains in the upholstery. Also, the dead guy in the driver's seat.
Everybody was utterly retarded on this one. The car thief shouldn't have stolen cars. The firefighter shouldn't have left his car running. Beyond those two things, I wasn't there.

And before ye hang the fireman, consider the source. The Trib is very anti-gun and will exaggerate any story involving one, lawful or not. They were literally screaming from the rooftops that Illinois would become the Wild West and blood would flow in the streets when we finally got concealed carry five years ago. Plus it's gotten to be a joke with these family members always spouting off about how these "innocents" were honor students, wonderful kids, or really turning their life around.
After spending almost 30 years around these incarcerated Chi-town youths, they're all innocent, just ask them.

Dontcha just love it??!! The guy's sister has started a page where you can send donations to "bring the family comfort."
It's interesting to note that all of the pictures they posted of Charles are when he is a baby, when he is a toddler, and when he's around five years old. In the most recent picture, he looks around twelve. What a cute little guy. Who would ever imagine that such an innocent looking little fellow could ever commit any type of a crime??
Why don't they post more recent pictures of him? You know...the ones where he's wearing his colors and flashing gang signs?...or maybe recent arrest photos?
It's also interesting to note that the comments on the sister's page aren't going the way I'm sure she had hoped. Most of them are saying that the punk got what he deserved. Certainly not very comforting.
I doubt, however, that she'll ever realize that her loving brother was really nothing more than a street thug...no matter how cute he looked when he was five.
Heck! Even I looked cute when I was five!
