Wow! This thread took a decidedly nasty tone. Anyway, for the record, I took "martial arts" for around 20 years. My personal preference is to not get into a fight and if I do have to fight I want to use a weapon so NOBODY TOUCHES ME. Period. If I had to deal with narco-gangs around me I, too, would routinely carry a high capacity pistol. I expect to not have that situation so I find between 5 to 8 rounds, depending on the gun I choose to carry, sufficient. I probably said something like that many posts earlier in this thread.
I do carry a M6906 sometimes, under certain situations, because of the higher chance of needing extra capacity but it is not often.

For me, reliability, light weight and concealability trump everything. My choice for many years has been a .25 auto carried in a sheath holster in my right front pocket. But I am seldom in areas where I am likely to need it.

A lot of folks consider gunfighting(fighting with a gun) a martial art, especially so in the context of close-quarter shooting and I don't think they're wrong. I tend to view it as both art and science, percentages quantified based on the specific scenario and circumstances, with gunfighting usually leaning more towards being an art and shooting more towards being a science.

EMP,
It's clear that you have some chip on your shoulder. I'm not sure why you think that having some hand to hand training is such a bad thing?
Fortune favors the prepared. I'm sorry for you that you think preparation is such a bad thing.

A classic scene, but ad libbed. Harrison was supposed to pick up a sword and fight but he was sick the day it was shot so he pulled his pistol and the stuntman went with it so it worked.

Let's see revolver or pistol? Pistols are only single shot, and loaded from the muzzle. So my answer would be revolver.

15+1 is important if you intend to miss a lot.
