You Just Shot Someone In Self-Defense.....
You just shot someone in self-defense, now what?
This is good, free information and advice that anyone who keeps a firearm for self-defense can benefit from, with the sincere hope of never having to use it.

Good info for those new to conceal carry .. and something everyone should review occasionally !! If your better half doesn't carry also she/he should review this also !!
Being retired and still enjoying being with my wife after 44 years of marriage .. my wife and I are with each other most of the time .. I have emphasized to her that she should tell police the same thing ,, give a brief statement that we were in fear for our lives and she would like to speak to a lawyer .. she doesn't carry .. but does shoot very well ..
And if possible she will record the incident on her phone .. while I call 911 ..

Just so much common sense to add to the possibilities that can occur in an unfortunate incident. Thanks so much. I bought a copy of the “Law of Self Defense” which may support and add to this awareness. Thanks!

Somethings never change. I was given almost word for word advice back in 1970. Same advice when I got my carry in Tn. & now the same when I moved Back to Fl & got my Fl. carry permit.
Yes, I know when you're in danger & your adrenalin is flowing, it's hard to remember all you're supposed to do. So keep this & try to review it every 3 or 4 months or buy the book.
Thanks for the great post.

Excellent video. I only have one...concern I guess. You have a duty to call for medical assistance. The video advises that you provide certain case elements, etc., but keep it brief. I'm asking, why say anything?
"A man has been shot and needs medical assistance at this address." That's really all you need to say. I realize that some facts might help your case, but my concern is that it's all being recorded. 12 people could listen to that recording and interpret it 13 different ways. Your tone, your cadence, all play a role in how you're perceived. Your life and/or that of your family was at risk and you are tramatized. It's really not the time to have your comments recorded.
I'm not saying I could have the self discipline to limit comments. In fact, once I get talking, which is what police want, I might say too much at that time/place, with the wrong tone and perceived incorrectly. The video used the pronoun "I" and how I did this and I did that. In that situation, I hope I talk only about what the suspect and others did. I'll discuss what I did at a later time, with proper direction.
I thought it was an excellent video and especially like the ending: "before you act, think about how you would act if you weren't armed." My interpretation of that is, leave if you can. Only fight if you absolutely have to, as regardless of the outcome, the aftermath is no picnic.
Stay safe.
