Default S&W Model 36 3" in .357 Magnum?

Hello, everyone. While I know Smith & Wesson never produced the Model 36 in .357 Magnum, I am wondering if they ever produced a gun that is basically the equivalent to a Model 36 3" chambered in .357 Magnum.

The Criteria Are:

1. 5 Round cylinder chambered for .357 Magnum
2. 3" Barrel
3. Frame Integral Non-Adjustable Sights
4. Steel Frame
5. Round-butt grip (I can round the grip frame if necessary, but a stock round-butt grip is preferred)

If Smith & Wesson ever produced a gun matching these criteria, I am curious as to what it is. If anyone can lend a hand in identifying a Smith & Wesson revolver that matches the above criteria, please do so. Thank you!

Off the top of my head, Model 60 and 640. 5 shot, 357mag. Available with a 3" barrel. 60's got an exposed hammer, 640 doesn't.

The current production Model 60 is the stainless twin to the Model 36 and it has been chambered for 357 Magnum since 1996. Unfortunately they were all adjustable sights

Many thousands of them are out there new and used with the adjustable sights

The top gun is a 3" Model 36 in 38 Special while the bottom gun is a 3" Model 60 in 357 Magnum. This particular Model 60 is called the "Small Hunter" and came Mag-Na-Ported from the factory.

I can not recall there ever being a 3" Model 60 chambered in 357 Magnum with fixed sights

You could easily make your own by purchasing a 2 1/8" Model 60 and having the barrel changed out for a 3". The front sight would also have to be changed as would the ejector rod and center pin, but then you would have the gun you are looking for

You recently asked this question vis-a-vis the Model 60. The Models 60 and 36 are the same save for the former is stainless steel and the latter is carbon steel.

The answer remains the same: the firearm you're looking for hasn't been factory made. You need to determine what means more to you, .357 Magnum capability, or fixed sights. Once you choose, many options become available.

I've used a three inch 60-10 .357.... think "micro 5 shot 686"............. for over a decade.....

The adjustable sights are standard S&W and given that I use the gun with both .38s and /357s ....... the adjustable sights are a plus.

The only problem is the 3" Model 60 has adjustable sights.

If you get the model 60 with 2.125" barrel, it has fixed sights. You might have to compromise somewhere if you don't want custom.
