Why an ar & glock in 9 makes sense. Enough ammo to keep going, common calibers for resupply.

I'm going to be the odd man here and grab my Ruger 10/22 & my S&W 6" 617 as my backup

As far as weight is concerned, I'd say the glock 17 is going to be your best bet. For a long gun, 870 or ar. Pack your ammo separate from food and med supplies and you can always ditch it if it is unnecessary.

I have a small bag from maxpedition, holds 4 30 red ar mags, and 2 glock 17 mags in pouches on the outside. Has enough room for glock 17, flashlight, multi tool and some med supplies on the inside. I keep it packed and ready just in case.

Don’t own an AR, and don’t really have any plans to get one, although that would obviously be a first choice. A rifle in .308 (i’d personally bring a lever I have over a bolt), a shotgun in 12 gauge (prob my Benelli SBE , and the Missus could carry this), and a revolver in .357/38. And a full size high capacity 9, like a CZ 75. 2 long guns, and 2 short. Common calibers. Multi-purpose.

I could take one gun? S&W Model 15, 4" adjustable sights. Because that's what air crews have used for a survival weapon and I would have other stuff to carry, like water.

Great choices, but I'd take a 5906 in lieu of a revolver.

Haha. This is cool. As soon as I got my 645, I started seeing it as my "Walking Dead gun." Rick has the Python... Glenn had the 1911... Matt has the big ole' stainless 645. Tough. Rugged. Utilitarian. It just...... fits.

No brainer, my Browning High Power. Served me well for over 40 years now, not sure anything could replace it or inspire more confidence. 'this is my Browning HP, there are many like it...but this one is mine.....' Another tried and true Browning for my rifle selection, my SA22, with a boatload of ammo. Had it for over 50 years, has never failed me. Take down model, I could hide it under my trench coat when slipping through the Zombie front lines, won't attract any attention. Raid their supply chain, seize all of their Nutter Butter's and Almond Joy's, destroy the warehouse of Captn Crunch (no milk, weaken their morale). Slip back to my hidey hole with the cookies, don my Gilley suit, load the Ma Duce and repel the hoard. This is going to be fun.....

Tough choices, but I'd be thinking I needed my Mossberg 590 SP, 9-round 12 gauge with an assortment of shot and slugs, along with my 686 Plus to cover the bases. Realistically, if I was carrying a pack with food and gear, the Mossy would be a chore to lug around all day.

I'd take my .30 Carbine, Colt 1991 and my 3" SP-101. My K-Bar also. 10 loaded 15 rd mags for the M-1, 3 mags for the Colt, 25 spare rounds for the revolver. Never had much luck with 30 rd carbine mags, but the 15 rounders have always run great for me. They are a handy size to stick in a pocket too.

1st choice: Stay put. More ammo here than I and my family can carry. Independent and secure water source. Food for decades. Firewood and more to cut.
All my handguns are .38 Spl and .357 Mag.
For me:
4 inch S&W Model 65-1 .357 Mag
2 inch Model 12-2 .38 Spl
Western W49
CRKT C/K Dragon
Ka-Bar TDI
S&W 26 inch collapsible baton
Mosin-Nagant M38 carbine 7.62x54R
My wife:
4 inch Model 681(M) .357 Mag (loaded with .38 Spl)
2 inch S&W Model 642-2 .38 Spl
My son-in-law:
3 inch Model 13-3 .357 Mag
Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle .223 Rem/5.56x45mm NATO
My 1st daughter:
2 inch Taurus 85SSUL
One of our many .22 rifles
My grandson:
Bulgarian 9x18mm Mak
Remington 870 Express 12 gauge
My 2nd daughter:
Kel-Tec P-11 9mm
Rossi 92 20 inch carbine .45 Colt
Moving would be counter productive due to my wife's health. If we had to move, there is a re-engined (diesel) Alvis Saracen 6x6 in the warehouse.

They make this thing called .22 Magnum. It's just like the 5.7, only it's no good against them armor-wearing zombies, but you can actually find ammo for it without the internet.

The .22magnum might be one of the best SHTF/Survival rounds available....... at least in the lower 48 states. Squirrels to Deer.... 2 &4 legged varmints out to 100yds
Don't have a handgun in .22mag but love my CZ 452 FS/mannlicher in that caliber...... .out of a 18 inch barrel the .22 mag has the muzzle energy of a 9mm.......
It's my walk in Penn's Woods rifle with 3 5rd magazines and a 30 rd ammo wallet in the RZR.
Kel-tec makes a cool looking 30 round semi-auto .22 mag carbine....... CMR-30

Given the parameters, I'm fortunate that I can fit all my guns in my backpack. If weight/space restrictions were to limit my choices, I'd probably go a similar route as Mister X, going with my 642 and I'd have to choose between my PX4 Compact and my 92FS. Tough choice...the 92FS is very well proven as reliable and I can shoot it well, but the PX4 Compact is smaller and lighter with the same capacity, and so far it's been reliable and I can shoot it reasonably well. Parts availability might be better with the 92FS.
*sigh*...Maybe I'll just hunker down and ride it out...

Did anybody give any consideration to how badass their choices make them look when confronting hordes of the undead?

I’m a died in the wool revolver guy, but this time I’d have to go with my model 39 and the two extra magazines I have. My reasoning it's, easier to carry extra ammo and ease of getting more ammo, if needed. I would also take a medium sized fixed bladed knife, along with my Rugger carbine with a total of three 30 round magazines.
Understand I'm old, fat city kid, so bugging out is not an option I give much thought to.

I’m going with my browning 9mm hp and 3 mags it’s my edc. Then either a trapper 30-30 or 9422 22mag and carpenters hatchet with a 20in handle. Just bunker down and wait it out. Maggots will clean the zombies out in 60 days or less. They are dead you know.

A walking gun to me is a Glock 19 and a Ruger 10/22 take down with the new back packer stock, in a backpack. 300 rounds of CCI .22LR is pretty light weight compared to center fire stuff.
The .22LR for long distance threats and hunting. Glock 19 for up close.

I'll take my Henry U.S. Survival rifle and Midland Backpack 12 gauge. Don't see the need for a handgun in that scenario, but I might throw in my M&P 22 compact because it's light. All the above, plus ammo, will fit in a back pack.

MY WALK- OUT GUNS
Mine would be my Colt GCNM & my Winchester .30-30 "94" AE. That combo works for Walt Longmire, it should work for me!!!!!

I think the most important handgun to have is a double action S&W or Ruger in 22 LR.They fire S,L,LR,shot shells,CB,soft lead, copper jacked, good or bad quality ammo.Ammo is available most places, not what you would buy if you had a choice, but it goes bang. This works for food, defense(emergency),and is a good survival weapon. Then pick your own defense weapon and caliber.
