Default Your " walk out" guns.

Ok, whatever has happened and it's time to go on foot. Darn near " walking dead " scenario going on and all you can take is what you can carry. Dont know where your heading or what your going to run into, but cant stay where you are.
What guns you going to grab?

Me, it would have to be my Colt m4 and Glock 17

My choice would be an AR-15, two 1911's in .45 ACP and a Ruger SP101 in .357 MAG snubnose.

I'd probably toss in a 2nd pistol now that I think about it. But it would be my g19 just due to weight and same ammo as the g17.

Are we really talking like the Zombie Apocalypse here? You do know they're attracted to sound...... Well anyway my AR9 and Springfield XDM 5.25, 6 Mags for the AR, 4 for the XDM and as much ammo as I could carry. My Predator copy machete for the walkers and my Browning Buckmark with suppressor for the more silent stuff.

At my age would probably fort up in my small chunk of piney woods and hold out as long as I could. Would run out of food and water before I ran out of firepower. The preppers debate this scenario a lot and I think that if I was forced a AR and 1911 is about as good as anything.

My basic plan is to hunker down at home. Everything I need is here. It would be foolish to walk away from all that. About the only thing that could force me to leave would be a fire or other disaster that completely destroys my home.
In that case, I'd go for the Springfield Scout/Squad rifle, a 1911 and the suppressed Buckmark in my pack.

I EDC a S&W 49 and 8 spare rounds, I will still have that on me! Ill pre position some rifles and shotguns and wait it out in the condo. In 45 days or less I'll run out of meds, and I check-out!

Marlin 39M Mountie.22 lr Rifle. It’s quite, hits easily out to 100 yards, breaks down and can be concealed in a duffle. Ammo is easy to carry and common. My EDC handgun is my Nighthawk T3, although my Kahr P9 is even easier to carry and 9mm ammo is more common than 45 acp.

My PTR-91 and my 1911 are the first choices. Tough choice to be honest. I'm also with those that state they would prefer to stay put if possible, I already live in the middle of nowhere, I don't know where I'd head to.

One of my 44 specials with 200 rounds of ammo. Either my Marlin 30-30 or 12 g double with one box each of buck shot and #6 bird shot. Admittingly 50 rounds of 12g will weigh more the 100 rounds of 30-30. If living off the land, I lean toward the 12g.

Anything you can easily find ammo for. 22, 9mm, 223,45 auto,357,38,30-06,270,12 gauge . I have a bunch of different calibers but in the long run if I need ammo I can find that stuff almost anywhere. Anything else to me would be foolish because eventually you will run out of ammo supply.

Bug in ..... till the die off is over......move to the cabin (about 80 miles) surrounded by friends and family

absolutely no choice then 3..... AR and Beretta 92 Centurion..... model 63 .22 in my pack.

One needs a goal and a group......... wondering aimlessly living off what you can "salvage/scrounge/steal" is in all likelihood a death sentence.

I guess a Glock 17 and snub revolver combo. It's hard to envision any reasonably realistic scenario where they would prove inadequate. I can't foresee a situation where walking around carrying a long gun would be a good idea. I don't even own one anymore as the AR and riot gun were sold off years ago as I just didn't see a need for them.

Hmmm. I think I would bring my S&W AR-15, but it's not exactly the lightest thing to haul around if I have to go far. I'm not in great shape at the moment. So I would probably grab my:

S&W M&P 15-22 (with silencer): It's light and so is the ammo. Also, 22LR is pretty ubiquitous.

CZ P-09 Urban Grey: It holds 22 rounds and I shoot it pretty well.

And I'd probably grab either my S&W M&P 22 Compact or LCR 38 just for good measure. They're pretty light. The benefit of the 22 is that it's small, light, and I can silence it. The benefit of the 38 is that it's small, light, and .38sp ammo is easy to find.

Glock 23/32 & any pattern AR. Why a G23/32? With spare bbls in 9, 40 & 357sig, you will have more scavenging advantages. It will also take ful size 17/22 mags as well as short 19/23 mags. So more scavenging advantages. AR/223 because everyone has one & ammo will be everywhere.

#1 has got to be an AR. A high cap, auto feeding rifle that shoots a common round for scavenging.

My back is against the ocean. I don't need a walk-away gun, I need a swim-away gun, preferably something that floats!

I like the concept of defending at home. I might grab a neighbor who can shoot so he can defend the back while I defend the front. His family can hide in the middle.

The best choices for weapons if you have to leave are the following:

Handguns:

9mm
.45 ACP
.22 LR
.357 Magnum (because you can obtain .38 Special for it easily)

Not because they are best (okay, they are) but because the ammunition is plentiful.

Long guns:

12 gauge
5.56/.223
7.62/.308
.22 LR
.30-30 (maybe)

Same reasons.

Which guns would I take with me if I had to evacuate? Hard to say. But it would be more than one and in those calibers.

A house boat instead of a cabin? sounds reasonable for a while.

Same as most, a lightweight AR

G17

And a .22 lr revolver

I’d have the wife/kid/neighbour carry the 9mm Colt carbine, easy to shoot, easy to feed and I’m sure it can do plenty of damage. And a snubby .357/.38

No one wants to leave home. But history is full of horror stories of those that got caught behind enemy lines

True, but there is no line to be in front of! The "Tree Line" might be the closest thing to the front line.

First, my Iiilidium X-3 Modulator.

Next, my S&W M&P Shield in 9mm

Then, my S&W Model 19-3 "Combat Magnum" in 357 Magnum.

Oh, a shotgun would be best, but not so easy to carry.

Absolute best; the Iiilidium X-3 Modulator!

God bless,
Birdgun

Did anybody give any consideration to how much weight their choices tally up to and how much room does that leave for food, water, medical supplies, etc?

AMEN! I get tired bird hunting from a box of 20 gauge shells in a hunting vest, and a light, fast swinging 20!

Talking WALK ON WOLVERINES.

I'll limp over to my easy chair with a shotgun & a few handguns & hopefully die somewhat quickly. Maybe once many years ago I might try to hoof it. Running around the mountains like a teenaged Patrick Swayze, = pure fantasy.
