Armed Cyclist Shirt
A friend sent this to me because she knew I'd be interested. It was taken a few days ago in Lake Worth Florida about a block from the public beach. The adjacent road is heavily used by bicycle riders especially on weekends. I've never seen this before!

Love it!
I suppose that's as open carry as you can get in FL on a bike.

Hope he has a 360 degree "helmet cam" to see all the incoming idiots who will try to take his gun away. Certainly removes the element of surprise, but only on his end...

One of those evil-doers (or maybe just a slightly nutty SJW or Anti-Gunner) might just decide to give your bike a little bumpie with his/her vehicle when they spot that shirt.
OUCH!

On a bike, I would suggest a flowing sheet-mirror shades-a shaved head, and a hockey mask-probably would not even need a gun...

No "displays" of any kind I'm armed in public for me. If I'm advertising I'm armed, he, or they, will just plan their attack with more caution.

I knew about fanny packs and photographer's vests, but when did Hawaiian shirts become a tell? They're pretty popular here at the beach, and I wear them all the time, as do lots of folks, even those who aren't carrying.

I don't understand the mindset of wanting to tell everyone you are carrying a gun. It does not make you more safe.

You're blending in with your environment. Go for it.
I see un-tucked "Tommy Bahama" style shirts all the time during the hot, humid, summer months.

Unless a legal activity directly affects me I don't care. I subscribe to the live, and let live doctrine, and have no drive to ridicule others. The only people I make fun of are peanut gallery warriors. All of them can dish it out but can't take it.

Let me get this straight. You don’t think most people on a bicycle should be riding a bicycle?
As for the shirt, I’ve got a crisp Benjamin for the first link to an article about a cyclist wearing that shirt who is targeted for his gun for wearing that shirt. Just because you don’t like or understand it, doesn’t mean it’s wrong. SMDH . . .

So, who is the "we", in your "we disprove these inane fantasies". My "spout" is based on the reality of thirty years working as an armed professional, and in the criminal justice system, at the municipal, county, state, and federal levels.
I personally investigated several cases where citizens "advertising" they were armed, and/or that they had guns in their homes, became victims of violent assaults and home invasions. They were targeted specifically for their guns. No "fantasies" here.
Please let me know where the "advertise you're an armed citizen" instructor teaches, so I can advise people to seek instruction elsewhere.

Are you only just now returning to reality, or is this all a new experience? Reality in this world says anything can happen. There really is 'nothing new under the sun'. Concealed carry peeps are targeted, open carry peeps are targeted, and unarmed peeps are targeted.
Is there any empirical evidence that the criminal element is trolling the streets looking to rob someone of their gun? No. Your mention of career field says a lot- a group traditionally against arming of the citizenry (your own views not relevant).

I'd love to see a single instance (verified by a link to a news article or something other than a personal anecdote) in which someone was shot first because of a "shoot me first" vest, shot or attacked because their fanny pack "screamed gun", or was targeted specifically for wearing an Aloha shirt.
NOT some open carry guy getting sucker punched and relieved of his Springfield XD.
I was an LEO for 33 years, and I've never seen it. Maybe it has happened, and I would love to have some evidence of such a thing.
I wore a fanny pack for years. I'm sure I could have rigged up a device to actually "scream gun" and nobody would have noticed. I could have Bedazzled "GUN INSIDE" on the front of it and nobody would have noticed.
My standard wear is jeans, Homer Simpson T-shirt, and unbuttoned Hawaiian shirt over it. For decades. As an FBI agent - (I worked far from adult supervision.) No one cares. And this was in some really nasty places.
No one cares if you're wearing a photographer's vest, fanny pack, or an I HAVE A GUN shirt. Except for the internet.
I will happily admit to being wrong once I am shown the error of my ways, but I suspect this is a bugaboo created by magazine article writers and tactical shooting school ninjas.

I don't know of any professional firearms training schools and/or professional instructors who teach that advertising you're an armed citizen carrying a concealed firearm in public is a smart idea. I've taken several courses at both Gunsite Academy and Thunder Ranch over the years. I know it's not taught at either of those schools.
Be polite and we can have a conversation. Of course "anything" can happen. I spent thirty years on the side of the victims of violent crimes so I know all about the "reality" of crime.
I'm also as far from being against armed citizens as it gets.

The fact that one is either packin or not is best viewed much like politicks or religion. Polite folks just don't discuss it...

I agree 100%+ with that statement. I still use an old fanny-pack when hiking. No one gives it a second look as everyone is carrying some sort of pack.
The cases I have first hand knowledge of all involved people that were out in public, then followed home.
Unfortunately, there was only the newspaper back then, nothing to "link-to".

32 years. Same levels as you. Your scenario doesn't happen as a rule in every locale I'm acquainted with, which are many. Perhaps your little microcosm is an outlier. I know one fella' who kept a gun in his truck console and got it stole three times because the same miscreant knew he didn't lock his truck. Open carry people don't get tackled on a more regular basis than regular citizens, people with NRA stickers on their trucks don't get broken into more often than others, and people who everybody knows has guns don't get burglarized. Case in point. If your scenario were even close to true, cops would be more frequent victims of burglars, because everybody knows they have at least one gun in the house.

I never said it occurs as a rule. Actually, my experience was in three different states in ten different cities. My little microcosms were large urban cities.
How polite of you to imply I'm lying. My scenarios aren't close to being true. They're absolutely true. My personal cases involved people who were out in public, then followed home, and those were just the cases I was assigned to.
Please let me know the names of the professional firearms training schools who teach that advertising you're an armed citizen carrying a concealed firearm in public is a smart idea. I'd enjoy contacting them to hear their thoughts on the subject.

I am not sure that wearing a shirt proclaiming the fact that you are armed is the smartest idea in the world.

Florida did a study using interviews of inmates the majority said they avoid people with guns as potential victims. They also said they feared armed citizens more than police. Of course a person concealing very well looks like they are unarmed.

Uhhhh their business is mostly conceal carry classes. And I do know one CHP trainer in NC who not only open carries but is an advocate.

He better not be eating a pop tart shaped like a gun.
As far as advertise I am carrying.........I choose not to do that.
I knew a woman that worked for a security firm and she was told if she carried a gun they would pay her a dollar an hour more. She said no thanks. Security officer open carrying she thought was first target by a bad perp. For a dollar more she said not only no but heck no.
