Right now, it's my M&P Shield 9 1.0. LOVE the gun!

Got a 3.6" 2.0 Compact 9mm on the way so we'll see if it lasts...

Before last Monday, my answer would have been the 686 SSR. That revolver is "super sweet"!!! Then last Tuesday I picked up a new Colt Gold Cup National Match. I'm still getting use to it and trying different loads etc but it sure feels good!!! Jury is still out, verdict will announced at a later date. LOL.

I had (and, kick myself for selling, but, money was far past tight.) one.

extra mags were a bit of a pain to find, but...

I have more than I need and fewer than I want.... that said my EDC fits the bill, a well worn 19-4 snub......still searching for perfect.

I really like the 19/66 snubs for personal defense and I am considering finding a 66-5 and copy the Yost 66 for my new EDC. The 19-4 is getting pretty long in the tooth...………..

The best all around handgun for me would be the Ruger SP-101 3". My dad always insisted it was the perfect gun, and I've come to agree with him. It will do everything you need a handgun to do.

If the SP-101 isn't available then I'll take my other favorite, the 3" Model 65. Again, a gun that is capable of anything you need done.

I must really like those two revolvers, I have three of each at the moment.

Gen 3 Glock 17 for home/hotel defense.
S&W centennial J-frame(currently a 642) for carry.

I wouldn't consider either perfect or ideal, but they are still a pretty good fit for me and my preferred weapons out of what is currently available.

For me, it’s my 4” m&p9 2.0. It’s dead reliable, the ergos are perfect for me and it hits whatever I aim at. After that, it’s a toss up between my 58 and 581.

Back in the day my 65-2 was what I thought to be the perfect LE handgun and except for the the fact that they don't make one with a 15 round cylinder, I still think it ranks as the best revolver. My entry for the best snubby is a M64-4 with a factory bobbed hammer. I wish they would come out with an new alloy frame M12 that was +P rated. That would be my ideal revolver!

Glock 17 and Smith Model 19

Wheel gun wins out over bottom feeder if it has to be just one.

For my EDC, it doesn't get any better than my SIG P938. Other choices would depend on the task.

Don't think that there is such a thing as a Perfect Gun ,,

I carry a Beretta PX-4 Sub Compact and its the most comfortable
of the carry pistols I have .. My S&W Compact is a close 2nd with my Sig Legion 3rd presently !!

The Beretta just melts away in a Garett Industries IWB holster .. and really forget I am wearing it at times .. I don't fiddle with it or rest my arm on it or hike my pants up every few minutes ..

2 officers taking prints at a class I was at didn't make me carrying .. The lady Leo had the same Beretta on lay-a-way and we had a nice talk about it ..

The M&P 40 1.0 compact. It's my EDC and nightstand gun. Eleven rounds of .40 cal. strikes a balance between a round with decent hitting power and good magazine capacity. It's very accurate out to 20 yards, it will shoot any ammo I feed it, it's pocket carryable, and it's been extremely reliable over the 12,500 rounds I've put through it. I've looked at other guns for a possible replacement, but haven't found one yet that I like as much. The best potential contender seems to be the M&P 3.6" 40c 2.0, but so far I haven't found one to try, and I hate to buy a pistol I haven't shot.

I agree 100%. My mods 64,65 and 13 with 3” barrel are the perfect carry guns as well as just fun to shoot. Model 66 with 3” barrel is right in there as well but the fixed sights are better for carry

For me it was my Model 65-1. Sad thought that I got rid of it, and why I do not have another is a mystery to me

auto - my 1911's both with Crimson Trace laser grips for home defense fighting gun. They are just a lot of fun to shoot.

revolver - my scoped 629 8 3/8" for handgun hunting whitetail.

At first I started to think my model 58 , 41 mag . But then after reading his question carefully I realized my K frame was a better fit for his question . So , I would have to say my model 19 , 4" barrel . It carries plenty of power , is lightweight , very accurate . I have a shoulder holster rig for mine so it conceals real well . After that , either my 58 (41mag) or my model 25-5 , 4"(45 Colt) . I also have shoulder holster rigs for them as well , but they are a bit heavier . But NO " wonder nines " for me . Everytime I have shot one , I lay it down thinking " what a piece of **** , give me my revolver " . Regards, Paul

The perfect handgun will be the next one I buy, until I buy the one after that, then the one after that, etc, etc.

Me, I like my 686+, 3".

For Revolvers, I would have to say that the 586-1 is the best shooting S&W I have ever fired, and I have had some good ones over the years. I believe it has had some work on the trigger, and the grips feel perfect in my hand. The 4" underlug barrel balances everything perfectly.

I have several Semi-Autos to choose from, but right now I would say that this 1911 is the one that I like the best. It is a COLT Series 80 that a previous owner sent in to Wilson Combat, had the stock internals gutter and replaced with all Wilson parts.

It was also dehorned for carry, the front sight has an Orange insert around the tritium insert, so it shown up very nicely.

Trigger pull is outstanding.

And it is as accurate as it should be with all of the work that has gone into it.

It is a very long story about howI had to chase this one down as it eluded me one time, but I was ultimately able to acquire it.

IMG_0797.jpg

IMG_0798.jpg

I also recently picked up a drop-in threaded Storm Lake Barrel, as I want to get a can for it at some point.

IMG_0723.jpg

Both of these guns are tack drivers.

I do not carry the 586, but the 1911 conceals very easily.

Like in golf ..... there is no single prefect club....... I think the limit in a bag is 14 specialized clubs...........................

With 84 different answers....... I guess the short answer on "'a perfect gun" is ....... NO!

Far from perfect but fits me like a glove: Model 10 snub square butt w/magnas & a grip adapter. It was carried for several years as my issued service revolver & the only gun I ever shot a perfect score with at qualification.

If there was a perfect gun made it would put all others out of business ..

And would be rather boring ..

I recently purchased a 9mm Shield that I really love. It just fits perfectly in my hand and shoots nice. Which has replaced my Springfield Armory Range Officer Champion 1911 (4" barrel) as my conceal carry gun. With that said, the Range Officer still gets top honors as my all around favorite.

Does it shoot +P?
Is it effective against Bears?
Can you carry it inside the waist band?

Yes but they call it Zone 8 Red Bag instead of +P

Never tried it on a bear but I saw it take out an entire herd of wild hogs with 1 shot in Germany. Stripes were lost over that.

No. It's definitely designed for open carry.

First, I'll sidestep the CC black hole. After that it's a Ginger / Maryanne thing. Which one would I want to look at and fondle? Gin.....the mod 57 no dash four inch. Which one is comfortable and gives me a warm fuzzy? Colt 1911.

I have some really nice S&W revolvers. 19, 66, 14, 15, 17, 629, 36, 31, 34

Per the criteria stated by OP, I must go with Glock 43.
