I’ve been perpetuating that myth as the truth since I was a kid.

Someone from my old neighborhood got it that way. 10 to the back of the head. Reference the book “The Murder Machine”
See movies like “The Godfather” and Casino to see how it’s done.
President Reagan was almost done in by a 22 that already ricocheted off a windshield and flattened out before slipping between his ribs

It's been submitted to Dillon's Blue Press magazine/catalog. I have no control over when it may be published - the BP editor makes that decision. Subscriptions are free by calling 1-800-223-4570 and asking.

I honestly don't believe it myself.
Probably 8mm Mauser or 7.62x39mm Soviet, but not .22.

One of the largest grizzly bears taken was taken with a 22 singleshot rimfire rifle by a Cree woman

I don't care about figures. I don't want to go below .38 special +P, though I briefly owned a Ket-Tec P32 for backup.

I was a US Army Medic in Vietnam, and can state that many people were shot with a lowly .22, some even killed! US Soldiers, ARVN Soldiers, and Indigenous Personnel.
I have seen the lead after it was removed!

Very interesting. Can you expound upon the circumstances and places that these .22 rimfire shootings occurred? What unit were you in and where were you stationed?

Surprised it hasn't been mentioned that President Reagan was shot with a .22. I wonder if conceaiability was the reason for using it?

22LR Killer Round
Well all I know is that,...
I have killed more rabbets with a 22LR than I ever have with a shotgun. Hunting in the 1950-1960s sure was an entirely different mindset than it is now. FWIW, "...huntin' rabbets..." with a 22LR was a skill, and nothing less. If you didn't get them on the first head shot, then nothing...
WHY? It was easier than H___ to clean a rabbet that had a clean head shot w/22LR than to pick lead shot out at the dinner table... Yeah, been there done that... And THAT was when we didn't go all paranoid about lead poisoning our children(me at the time), etc....!

22 Has Killed More People
I believe this is probably true, simply because it's so widely
used, and , also because they tend to go all over the place when entering the body, same as a 25, creating a pinball effect inside, doing a lot more damage than a thru and thru round

I believe this to be an urban legend on par with the original post . . .

I'd go with more people dying from infection than gunshot of all calibers combined.

Actually more people die of medical "accidents" in the hospitals than die of anything else, including 22lr and even auto accidents.
