Default IWB Holster recommendations?

.40 Caliber M&P Shield. For the past 4 years I have used an Alien Gear IWB. Recently considering the Urban Carry Revo rig but find few testimonials on this rig. They also discontinued the Revo IWB Plus.Does anyone have any recommendations?

JM Custom Kydex. The IWB 3 seems to be the one that most people in and out of law enforcement (on the forums I frequent) swear by:

IWB 3 Holster: JM Custom Kydex

I have several holsters from "Tony" and they are excellent. You can also contact him via email or phone to get his advice regarding what will work for your physique and intended usage.

Kramer IWB does the job for ME.....not kydex and not cheap. Also have several Lobo Gunleather holsters that are outstanding as well.

Standard A.R.C. IWB Holster - BLACKHAWK!

Incredible holster for the money (<$20). I wish they made them for every gun I own.

Well, while many here might make fun of these type holsters as "cheap junkers" they are ( for me ) the least obtrusive, most comfortable and efficient IWB's you can use. I can't stand having a heavyweight leather holster tearing at my skin or printing through my clothing and this type won't do either. It doesn't get any thinner or less obtrusive than these are and no thick heavy belt is necessary. As you can tell they have been used for so long (except the brand new one on the right in the picture) I don't even remember exactly long I've had them or what they cost, but not much.

The disadvantage some will always quote is that you can't re-holster with one hand - and that is correct, however if I ever have to pull Roscoe everyone would see it anyway and if I had to I'd put the M60 in a pocket or in my belt waistband temporarily until I had both hands available to re- properly.

BTW when I do use this method of CCW, it is the only time I wear the gun cross-draw at the 9 o'clock position. That is what I do when I plan on being in the car for extended periods of time because it's the most accessible in a vehicle. Depending on what size pants I'm wearing or how much I ate that week, depends on how comfortable the gun will ride. For the most part I've been a "good boy" but over the last few weeks (lots of BBQ's) I've been overdoing it. Since I refuse to buy the next size pants & belts I WILL loose the weight!

How do you reholster one handed with a soft leather IWB?? I prefer kydex or hybrid for just that reason, I can reholster one handed. Yes I wear a belt, just as important as a good holster for CCW imo.

Bianchi Model 100 Professional Holster Size 13 fits the S&W M&P 9mm Shield. It is a clip-on so you can carry it strong hand or switch it to a cross draw while seated and belted in a vehicle. I carry my CS40 in that holster.

I've been carrying in a leather Kusiak tuckable IWB for years. It is very comfortable and it allows for one-handed reholstering. It's available with an attached extra mag carrier as an option, which I do not have for my Shield but do have for my BG 380 and like it a lot.

That's what I've been using for carrying my Beretta PX4 Compact. It works quite well. The quality of the holster is very good.

Having said that, I'll probably be ordering a Kramer IWB#3 very soon.

Comptac Minotaur is the most comfortable IWB holster I own. I have one for my Shield and G19 and they held up nicely over the last 5 years.

When carrying IWB I prefer an all leather holster with offset belt loops. To my liking the wider offset loops are much more comfortable and spread the weight out over a greater area.

This design is a little bit easier to conceal because the loops are not directly over the gun.

Milt Sparks is a well made example.

This is my philosophy as well. I generally use Galco or Barsony IWB holsters, the main requirement being a strong clip to go over the waistband.

I know the trend is toward big Kydex dinner plates with multiple loops to hook to your belt. If that is what you like, cool. I grew up in Illinois well before anyone could get a carry permit, and I came to value the ability to quickly stuff the whole getup under the seat if required. Now I can carry legally in all 50 states, and I still like a simple and comfortable rig.

I carried like this on the job quite a bit, usually with my Glock 27. I made several real-life draws, and never had an issue with reholstering. I would just take the holster off, put the gun in, and then put everything back. It took less time to do it than describe it.

I like me some plastic.

Check out Dark Star Gear's Hitchhiker for the Shield. I've never used them but DSG is pretty popular and never gets a bad rap. Other companies off the top of my head--Keepers Concealment, PHLster, JMCK.

If you want more advice for really solid holsters, ask on pistol-forum.

I've got several holsters from Tom at Dark Star Gear for AIWB, OWB, semi-auto and J frame.

First rate gear.

I carry my 9mm Shield in a Tagua leather IWB holster. It has a reinforced mouth, which permits easy reinsertion of the pistol. Mine is for *** position. The holster has a very strong spring steel clip to attach to the waist of the pants. The clip's strength keeps the holster secure, but it also requires attaching the holster before you put on the pants. I paid about $20 four years ago. This setup is comfortable, and I recommend it.

I looked long and hard at DSG before I wound up with my RCS AIWB. Raven makes their Perun OWB for the M&P Shield, but their AIWB Eidolon is G-Lock only.

Also, I briefly thought I was in the Twilight Zone when the first response in an S&W CC+SD "I Need a Holster" thread was JMCK.

I just received the FOXX Hybrid IWB for my .40 Shield w/LaserMax. I have had an AlienGear IWB for about 4 years which I have liked. The Foxx weighs about 45% less. I have been considering UrbanCarry for several months but finally tired of trying to order online from them. I ordered the J clips for securing the holster. Not my best choice. They fit over the trousers rather than the belt. The bet rest atop of the bottom of the J clip. Not used to this clip hanging on my trousers and not secure on the belt. Tomorrow I am ordering the Nylon 66 Belt clips.I usually carry 'tucked' or under a light vest or jacket. I do like the Foxx, just need to get the new clips and try it out- wearing it longer. It is light and I hardly even know it is there. One problem I had with AlienGear was needing to tighten the clips before carrying every time.

Been using Milt Sparks leather "Summer Special" IWB holsters since the 1980s.... PPK to K-frame revolvers (21/2 to 4 inch) to 1911s and Beretta 92s ( Compact/Centurions)..... snap on, snap off!!!!

Also like their Executive Companion IWB holster....have them for S&W 6906/PC Shorty-9 and Beretta 92 Compact.

N82 holsters (envoy model) for IWB or AIWB carry. Kydex type outer shell with a soft backing and won’t let moisture through to your gun. Also easy to reholster and VERY comfortable!
Cardini holsters makes both leather and nylon holsters with sweat shields. I have 3 in nylon I carry AIWB and I really love them. They won’t let moisture though to your gun. As sigp220.45 stated,if I have to draw from holster I take it off put the gun back in then reinstall holster and gun on my belt.
Vedder makes IMO the best kydex holster because you can adjust ride height and camber angle.

Be SAFE andShoot often!

I really like foxtrotconcealment kydex! I have one for every gun that I own, that they make them for! Great product, very fast shipping, reasonable prices.
