Smile It came! :)

Well, to my surprise this showed up in my mail today:

NOTE: This is not actually mine (or anybody else’s it’s just an example picture) but it’s my Nevada CCW!!!

Despite the Corona and government shutdowns it seems it still processed in the correct time. Took my about 4 months to get it. I’m so incredibly happy and will be doing the “Wal-Mart Walk” this evening. It’s just an awesome feeling to be able to carry again. I’ve been here for a while and haven’t been able to legally protect myself with a firearm outside my home since I left Kansas.

Sorry for geeking out guys, I’m just so happy!! Thanks and take care guys!

-Jay

I was going to say that your picture was so bad that they blanked it out.

LOL.

I remember when I got my first concealed carry permit. Took a good look at my picture in it and wondered how they passed a permit to a guy with a mug like that.

I had a weird experience getting my Utah non-resident carry permit renewed a couple of months ago. Completed the process on Utah's web site, confirmed they received the fee, but no permit. Called them, and they confirmed the permit was mailed to the correct address, then sent another permit. When the second permit disappeared on the way to SC, I requested that they send it a third time to my daughter in NY, and I finally retrieved it from her.
Very strange.

Glad you don't have to go without. I'm so used to carrying I feel really uncomfortable when I can't.

I'm so glad that in my state it's a License rather than a Permit and that getting one is as easy as dropping by the Sheriff's Office, Courthouse, or a few other satellite locations with a 20 dollar bill, filling out a simple sheet of paper with information you could probably write in your sleep, then be on your way with License in hand in under 30 minutes (Depending on how many other folks are there.) and not have to return for another 4 years.

Congrats!

I remember how delighted I was when I got my first "CHL". Despite all the haranguing about the right to carry, illegal to ban it, etc., and despite the fact that I had always carried a gun for years and years, anyway, it was a pleasure knowing that from that moment on I would never have to hide the fact from any LEO if I was in a traffic stop or whatever. I was even happier when I realized later that the reciprocity took me across the country, east and west, as long as I stayed below the Mason-Dixon line. But, still, there are quite a few states north of Texas where my permit is valid, too. So good for you!!!

Even though here in Missouri you don't need a CCW anymore I still maintain my old one just in case I leave the state. Our permits don't have photos.

Congratulations!

My renewal came in the mail about a month ago. Thought since the virus is ongoing I’d drop a check in the mail and see what happens. Received a new three year permit on the seventh day after mailing. Wondering how many times you can renew by mail without a new mugshot? When these three years are up it’ll have been eight years since the picture.

Here it doesn't work like that. Every time you renew they ask for a new set of photos. Online or not.

Thanks all! I will actually be carrying a Springfield Hellcat, not a J-frame.

Smith & Wesson had the opportunity to sell me a new 442 no-lock last week but the one at the store had issues including cosmetic flaws (not a big deal) but a large crane gap.

Springfield got the sale with their hot new pocket 9 automatic repeater. Neat gun with much more firepower than any J-frame and conceals even easier. At this point I’m pretty much a convert to autos and use my revolver strictly for recreational shooting, not defensive work.

Good for you.

I've kept mine all these years because it makes the NICS checks
go thru much faster.
