I just watched a clip of a Washington LEO talking to a young girl and put his arms on her shoulders, in a friendly way, and she started sobbing and leaned on him as he hugged her saying it’s going to be alright.
That clip gives me some hope.

Folks should calm down. There is not blood running in the streets; this isn't 1969. I have heard of one rioter killed in Louisville by police returning fire, and one reporter with an eye injury from a police pepper ball, but none of this is exactly Armageddon. Bad decisions get made when people freak out.

Who is Antifa and why should I fear them ? I thought fascists were bad guys. In WW2, a lot of good people died being actively antifascist. Like in Hitler and Mussolini. Is it a large group, well armed and well led with a web page and a membership list? A flag. A clever motto? Or an imaginary group presented to divert attention from a lack of leadership?
Frankly, I am more concerned about the domestic gangs taking advantage of the legal gatherings to create chaos and plunder and pillage in the confusion. When the large groups in MN spend a day marching, they tend to be non violent and willing to go home before the mosquitos come out-if they are not met with violence.

My assessment might be giving Antifa a bit more credit than they deserve. Apparently, the leadership of both Antifa and BLM are using social media to organize and coordinate their "operations". From my training as an analytic historian turned educator, I look at Antifa as the Black Shirts, and BLM as the Brown Shirts. Remember what happened to the Brown Shirts at the hands of the Black Shirts once Hitler came to power?

On a tangent, has anyone noticed any coordination for BLM protests in suburban shopping centers for tomorrow? I have noticed at least three "scheduled" for three different counties in Southern New Jersey tomorrow?

The operative phrases here are "Unconfirmed reports" and "If true." This kind of repitition of misinformation has been very damaging to our country since the advent of social media.

ANTIFA is a movement, an attitude, not an organization. Calling it one is akin to jazz lovers or baseball fans being labeled as organizations.

I am old enough to remember the 1960's riots, and especially the ones that occurred after MLK was murdered. In fact on that day I was a volunteer tutor for black kids in the neighborhood adjacent to my unversity. We were able to get out OK with only a few windows busted on our bus.

So I've been on the receiving end, and well remember wild talk of going to Whitey's neighborhood to get some payback. And that's all it was, talk by some loudmouths.

We all need to calm down and think our way out of this collectively. And stop being played by excitist rhetoric from either the left or the right.

Rioters and looters take safety in numbers. A couple dozen bad actors can hide in a group of 1,000 protesters. I don’t see the protesters starting to go up and down residential neighborhoods, nor do I see the bad actors splitting off from the large groups and rampaging through neighborhoods.
