If you have room for it, a console vault is great. I installed one in my truck. Holds guns, wallets, phones and other valuables. Not exactly quick to draw from, but very secure.

I carry a BUG in an ankle holster primarily for this reason. I can get my ankle gun quicker and easier than trying to get my belt gun.

I have a kydex shell mounted in my center console. Quicker access, more comfortable...it works great.

Aliengear holsters has a modular "Shape shift" system with some options you might like.

I have a console vault. it's good if I am going into my office as I can make my pistol more secure. I just received a set of magnets for under dash, I will mount it this weekend

I can't get to my vehicle at the moment, but this is the general idea. Except mine is mounted in my center console, which is out of sight. I also have a lock box if I need to leave it for any reason. And yes as bigwheelzip mentioned, I have an Aliengear set up.

I use the Drivers side door pocket. It may not be the best option, but easy to use and affordable to boot.

Tundra has what the Tundra forum calls "Glock Box" Out of sight, easy access. I think Toyota calls it map storage.

My F-150 has something similar under the center portion of the front bench seat that lifts up where I keep a 2 inch model 60, but its not securable. These days I'm feeling like I need to have some thing more substantial in the truck and am leaning toward this:

Good options presented here. Love the AR under the truck bench seat. Can't really do that with a Cadillac CTS. Hmmm, maybe I need a different vehicle? Vehicle Carry Options

Any excuse to buy a new truck. I'm looking at land in Montana and have focused on a parcel that requires a stream crossing as an excuse to buy a new F-350 Tremor, which boasts a 33" fording depth.

A simple crossdraw holster works for me.
If I can’t carry into where I’m going, it comes out of the holster and into locked storage in the vehicle.
I haven’t seen anywhere (yet) that prohibits wearing an empty holster.

My 99 Suburban has something similar. I lined it with a piece of convoluted foam and it holds anything up to a large N frame.

I just keep mine on my hip. Carrying exposed in a console mount would be illegal in my state and is liable to get you shot by a cop who is "in fear of his life" in any state.

As a (cop) in any state I take offense at that remark.I would not and could not legally shoot someone just because they have a gun in vehicle.Maybe you have been talking to to many cop haters and not enough cops.

Shoulder holster only works if your're not in a 100 plus Summer zone.

It looks a bit conspicuous over a Tshirt.

Here in southern AZ it's often over 100 in the summer, has been 120... & shoulder holster works fine, even over a T shirt. Open carry is common here w/ both men & women, as a result crime isn't common. You could go w/ cross draw if that suits you better.

Where I live. There's no open carry. And concealed carry really means concealed.

Kurusu, out of curiosity, and my own ignorance, what are the requirements for a concealed carry license in Portugal?

Essentially, a well justified reason your life may be at risk. You also need to be approved in a self defense use of a firearm course.

Ankle holster (Renegade) is the best. Get competent legal advice before doing this while wearing shorts.

What Shell627 said (thank you sir I appreciate what you do!)

In my state the first thing I am doing is telling the officer that I have a weapon, as I hand him CC permit. Also my weapon is not exposed at all in my center console...unless maybe you have your whole head inside my window. It's down far enough if I want to, I can just close the lid on it.

I think the rifle hidden under or behind the backseat in the pickup is my next move. You can build an AR so cheap now and I have two, but just need a beater truck gun since things seem to be getting crazier with the world every day.

Just wear black socks with sandals, and a glitter fanny pack as a diversion. No one will notice the gun.

Appendix as well. One of my big reasons was that it worked seated - in a vehicle, in a chair, in a booth, etc.

If I expect to be in the car (drive-in church or long drive) the P320 is carried cross-draw.

If I'm heading to the mountains to hike or shoot, I have a military M12 shoulder rig that I can use.

I won't do magnets because I don't want the gun getting magnetized.

Also, be careful where you mount holsters or magnets; watch out for airbag deployment areas and be careful of where your legs will go in a front end collision. That one picture above has a gun and hard mounting brackets right in the place the car company designed to protect your legs/knees in the event of a crash- which has a higher probability of happening than defensive gun use.

Just recently started to carry Appendix at times and have started to position gun and holster under an untucked shirt with seatbelt over the outside so as not to impede the draw while seated. I have also utilized the door pocket. I am a lefty so drawing from a strong side holster and attempting to shoot left handed out the drivers side is a challenge. Would most likely have to shoot off hand.

I have a truck gun in an unzipped bank bag between my console and seat. I don't care for the magnets, as just about anyplace I mount it, the gun would be visible when entering/ leaving my truck and if the window is down.

Couple of points here. It's an outstanding idea to wear your EDC when test driving your prospective new vehicle. Also, make that test drive more than 5 minutes/around the block. Around 20 minutes will give you a good idea if everything is going to work out. If the dealership/salesperson gets fussy, it's a good preview of what you might expect if you have issues with your purchase.

The other thing is that having a firearm lying about in plain sight just isn't bright. Depending upon state law, it might also be illegal by not being "secured", cased, etc. Yeah, yeah, some might consider it open carry, but a judge might not agree.

If it is a short trip I reposition seat belt/gun so I can draw. I will admit this is not the most comfortable. Longer trips I use a wider pistol between seat and console. I have 2 that do this perfectly in my truck. When we get to destination wife will drop it in my back pack and it goes to the room where it will stay until departure. I will still have my carry when we are out and about.

I carry AIWB for my 2” bbl revolver and my pistols. I put the seat belt behind the grip and wear an untucked shirt that covers the gun/holster. Makes for a fast draw. The kydex holster gives a solid base to draw from. JMO
Sorry I don’t have a pic for the revolver.
P.S. Holsters are Vedder holsters.

Be SAFE and Shoot Often!

My truck ConsoleVault contains a 9mm semi with multiple mags, my EDC is placed into the console slot between the cup holders where I can immediately grab it. When I leave the truck the EDC goes with me, or if some reason it cannot, it is secured in the ConsoleVault.
If I was pulled over while driving, per advice of my retired State Police buddy I would just drop my ever present cap on top of it, and if asked if I was armed, would state 'yes, officer, I am legally carrying and can provide my CCL along with my DL.'

It looks a bit conspicuous over a Tshirt.
The shirt that covers the pistol in a belt holster will also cover the pistol in a shoulder holster. Larry

Appendix or cross-draw. Always on me, not the vehicle.

My G43 in its pocket holster goes above the visor in my 01 F-150 when I get in my truck.

I carry IWB at 3:30 or so. The seatbelt is not an issue. Sitting on my shirt tail is though.

Exclamation How about a firearm that was specifically designed for Vehicle Defense?

This is my Taurus Judge Magnum, my designated Bedside Home Defense Firearm, but there is also the smaller Taurus Judge and Public Defender Poly which would make excellent Vehicle Defense Firearms. There's also the Taurus Raging Judge that would make an excellent Wilderness Firearm.

Shot loads...-taurus_judge_magnum-jpg

The Taurus Judge was originally designed and market for Vehicle Defense, allowing you to load everything from less-than-lethal Rubber Buckshot, to the real deal 000 Buckshot, all the way up to the legendary man-stopper, the .45 Long Colt.
Say what you want about the Judge, but it's hard to argue that a faceful of Buckshot at point-blank range wouln't be sufficient for repelling a carjacker or anyone else who might try to attack you while you're inside your car. (Although I'm sure that some will try...)

Don't trust Taurus? No problem, Smith & Wesson has you covered with the Governor, their own rendition of the Judge with a lightweight Scandium Alloy Frame, Melonite FNC Finish, Tritum Front Sight, and 6-Shot Cylinder which has been cut for Moon Clips, so in addition to .45 Long Colt and 2.5" .410 Bore Shotshells, it can also shoot .45 ACP +Ps!
