recently started looking for a M&p 2.0 4”barrel, little did i know that everybody in the free world is looking also. What are you guys using for ccw, in the same size range, not sure why i’m looking for 4” other than the internet says it’s one of the best for ccw. I know my 5” m&p is way to big for me. So if you guys could run some of your cow’s by me, i would appreciate it

It can be tough to find any decent compact pistol nowadays.

FWIW, from what I've seen, most people can conceal bigger guns than they think they can, with the right gear and clothing. Using a cheap IWB holster I can hide a Beretta 92FS under an untucked shirt. Still have to get some good gear for it, though.

As far as what I carry, my EDC is a Beretta PX4 Compact, 9mm, which is kind of like a Glock 26 slide on a Gock 19 frame, as far as size. It's a really nice DA/SA pistol that, in my opinion, is often underrated as a carry gun. Mine's been modded a bit. Loaded with Federal 147gr HST.



I also usually carry a 642 as a BUG, but sometimes I'll carry it by itself. I've also carried a pair of 642s. Loaded with Speer 135gr SB-GDHP +P.

I carry a Smith & Wesson Sigma SW40VE with a Ruger LCP as Backup.



The SW40VE is essentially the partial predecessor of the M&P Series, known as the Sigma Series. Or perhaps it would be more accurate to say that the Sigma is the father of the M&P, and the SW99 was the mother? Yeah, that seems about right. It's an older, simpler design (basically a clone of the Glock 23/19) with fewer features which was (and still is -- see SD Series) a lower-priced firearm. It's also a slightly smaller, lighter firearm than the Full-Size M&P, equal to the M&P Compact.

Generally speaking, for me, a handgun with a 4” barrel is usually too big for me to carry comfortably. With the exception of my 4” barrel Glock 48 single stack. But it is a single stack.

I carry the 43 way more. Or even my 42. My S&W J-frame is very easy to pack too!

suggest giving a Sig 365 a good look. Mine parked a half dozen other EDC's in the safe.

Not really sure what the question is. Concealed is easy even with a full sized pistol. In this picture I'm carrying a P320 .357Sig OWB, completely concealed, and accessible with one hand. In the cooler months a fleece vest conceals, in warmer months just an unbuttoned light shirt.

That's true but I prefer to not carry boat anchors on my belt, neither IWB nor OWB. I pop around town daily with a M649 in my pocket or, if I get antsy, a Walther CCP on my belt.

But I've also been known to carry a CS-9 or a CS-45 IWB and sometimes 2 inch K frames. And there are others relatively sized. I don't ever consider larger guns for concealed carry but out in the field, well, that's different.

And I'm not wearing a vest when it's 100 degrees in the shade so it's gotta be a light shirt for concealment only.

I've concealed all of these but once I took a road trip concealing an N frame - that won't happen again! Good thing it was cold out.

I have carried a BUG but so rarely that I cannot recall the last time I did it. I have some other easy to conceal pistols but these are the main "go tos" presently.

My primary concealed carry is a S&W SD9 with fiber optic sights sometimes backed up by a Ruger EC9s (generally when traveling) which I carry when the SD9 is just too big. The SD9 is loaded with 15+1 Federal 147 grain HydraShoks as are the two spare magazines (can't get the 16th round into any of them). The ED9s is loaded with 7+1 Sig V-Crown 124 grain in a flat base magazine as are the two 9-round extended magazines.

The HydraShoks are not my first choice, but I had two boxes of them in my ammo storage. They will be replaced by either Sig V-Crown 124 grainers or Federal 150 grain HST when ammo becomes more available again.

A 340PD, a 431PD, and a 649 no dash.

I also have a few LCRs and several other J frames.

I also recently decided to add a pepper spray to my carry to have something non lethal as an option.

Not trying to be Donnie Downer, but in August 2020, I’m not sure it matters what we’re carrying. Your only choice may be to figure out how to carry what you have or don’t carry. And if you do find something, if you aren’t already stocked up, ammo my be an issue.

True, it does take more effort/commitment to carry a larger gun (one reason I stick to my PX4 Compact and have Beretta 92FS carry gear as a low priority), but it can be done. I can definitely tell the difference when I switch from my PX4 on my hip to my 642. But the PX4 isn't that difficult for me to carry, so that's what I usually go with.

I don't have any personal experience with them, but the Sig P365 seems like a good compromise. Lots of good reviews. If you can find one, that may be a viable option.

But as Ziggy2525 said, ammo availability is another factor. You're going to need some range ammo to practice and learn how your gun shoots, and enough defensive ammo to make sure they'll function in your gun and you can shoot them well. Like he said, you may have to figure out a way to use what you've got.

That is the truth! With all the panic going on today, it's less of a case of what you want and more of a case of what you can find, both firearm and ammunition.

For my CCW needs, I normally carry a S&W Model 6946, it is the same size as a Glock 19, just heavier and three rounds less magazine capacity, but that's ok. For deep concealment, a Model 640-1. These are handguns that I have had for a long time and I have ammo for them.

I'm a big fan of the CZ 75D PCR. Accurate, reliable, aluminum frame, 3.74" barrel, 15 rounds of 9mm Luger, 27.5 oz empty. 7 1/4" x 5" x 1.4" form factor.



When that's too large I carry a CZ 2075 D RAMI.

Depends on where I'm going and what I'm doing. I have an LCP that can always be tossed in a pocket. Then a S&W 360 that isn't much heavier than the LCP. Or a Sig P239 in 40S&W, and up from there in size and power. Unfortunately if you are still looking currently and don't already have something you only have two options. Get whatever you can find in stock and be at peace with it until supply returns, or be prepared to pay double for something specific. People are sucking up any guns and ammo that aren't glued down and I don't see that changing for awhile.

I usually carry an LCP in my pocket. It's my always on me pistol. My official "carry" pistol (actually my BUG) was either a Shield or Glock 19 on the hip. Then I tried a P365 XL. Wow. I bought one right before the gun run. Super nice. I did put a Talon Pro grip on it to beef up thickness. Carries easily in a Vedder Light Tuck IWB holster. Accurate shooter. I usually carry 12+1 in the pistol and a 15 round mag spare.

If you prefer the shorter P365 slide, but like the longer XL grip, you can buy a P365 (if you can find one) and then get the XL grip from Sig for $40'ish. Direct swap - at least for the non-safety version. Biggest issue with Sigs is the mags are expensive.

I need to get in another order too- I want a crossdraw for my P239 (.357sig).

My carry guns haven't changed much in the last 30 years...... S&W 3913NL or PC Shorty-9.......... lately I've increased my carry guns to include my Beretta 92 Compact.

Penn's Woods carry is a 3" 66 .357

At 13+1 the Beretta's size didn't justify carrying it over the Shorty-9 at 12+1..... but with Mec-gar new mags the Beretta is now 15+1 with a spare 18round mag with a Farrar grip adaptor. Add a set of VZ's thin grips and the Beretta is a game changer.

New is new .... not necessarily better...... don't see the need to chase the latest and greatest.

Sig now offers the 365XL MS frame as well for the 365. Hard to beat 12+1 under 20 oz with great sights and fine acuracy.

Yeah. At the time I bought my XL, I didn't know you could get an XL frame for the 365. My bad for not researching more. If I was going to do it again, pretty sure I'd go with the 365 and XL frame. I like the shorter slide with the longer grip.

Normally I’ll carry Two J-Frames. I have a Glock 26 that I keep in the house. This past few days I decided to give the 7 shooter some carry time. The J-Frame always is in my pocket.

I prefer the double-action-only S&W Gen3 models 3953 or 4053 for EDC. I own a lot of Gen3 TDA Smiths but opt for the KISS DAO models for a crisis management moment.

All the ones in my carry rotation are around 4" bbl, Sig P6, Sig P229R, H&K P30 V3, FN FNP40 , They all work pretty well. Even though the 229 is the heaviest of them all I still like and carry it chambered in 357 sig, but also have the 40 bbl for it if I want to go that way.
