not a striker guy, but i have 2 P365 MS and find them nearly the perfect carry pistol. the P365 checks nearly all the boxes for me. i do wish the safety levers were a little more substantial. mine have been 100% reliable.

the G26 has some advantages....it's been around for 25 years, so if there were any bugs, they have all been worked out. replacement parts are easy to find.

that said i plan to keep the Sigs and no plans to buy a P26.

I carry a g26 daily but only becauseci cant readily get a p365. The 365 is slimmer, easier to tote all day.

Anyone trying to argue the Glock is better because of reliability or price is ridiculous. Everything is expensive these days and what a 365 goes for today versus what you paid for a G26 years ago is irrelevant. There is also no difference in reliability, that goes for any Glock versus any quality handgun these days. @OP if you are looking for something to pocket carry I would say the Sig wins two hands down. I'm a big guy with big pockets and a G26/27/33 is a damn brick in a pocket. Anyone telling you it isn't is selling something. If you can find either at a LGS ask them if you can slip it into your pocket and you'll find out really quickly which is one is for you.

I am a huge fan of the Glock 19.....

That being said, the Sig P365 is like a magic trick....

How do you fit 10 rounds into a tiny little gun?

Yes, it is possible....

Trigger.... nice!

To be fair, I don’t own a G26 but my 365 has all the concealed carry gun can offer plus an extra few rounds.

I have both a Gen 2 G26 and a P365. Both have been 100% reliable so far with any load I've stuffed in the magazine. To me, the P365 feels better in the hand, although both shoot about the same. If the choice were mine, after comparing the two in my hand, and factoring in that you want the pistol for pocket carry, I would choose the P365. If that weren't a concern, it would be a toss up.

Went G26 because of its long track record of being reliable, robust and better shooting accuracy. The Sig did not shoot as well for me and did not seem as well made as the G26. The G26 is still the Gold Standard for me .

Kind of a moot point for me, since I live in CA and could only acquire a P365 as a Used firearm.

In the spirit of joining the discussion, though ...

A close friend of mine recently bought a 365 XL w/RDS (with his Peace Officer exemption). He decided to take a chance on the new production XL model after his first 365, from last year, experienced a problem. Basically, its striker firing pin broke on the first day of a class he was attending, after he'd fired 300-odd rounds. It c ame to his attention when it just stopped firing during the middle of a course-of-fire. Luckily, he had a backup in his gear (M&P) which he used to complete the class.

He took the 365 to his dealer to return it to SIG for warranty replacement of the striker firing pin, which they did, but he immediately traded it off when it came back, without even taking it to the range.

He said he liked to think that SIG has gotten over any teething pains with the 365 in the last year-plus since he'd bought that first one. So far, he's been pleased with the 365 XL, and he's been putting it through its paces at his agency range (he's an instructor).

I haven't had the opportunity to run the 365 XL on the range for live-fire assessment, yet, but it did feel nicely slim and balanced when he asked me to examine it. The grip might appeal to some folks who find the G26 a bit chunky in girth, and the extra couple rounds probably wouldn't hurt.

That said, the G26 has been around plenty long enough to have demonstrated a respectable track record of service use. Ditto the Shield, and the G43 has reached the middle digits of the years since its release.

Personally, I used to wait about a year before I thought about picking up a new model pistol, so any teething pains and "voluntary upgrades" could be discovered and addressed after the guns had been out in the hands of regular owners (and cops, who can find ways to abuse and break damned near anything ).

Nowadays? I'd push that out to at least 2 years, and especially if it involved my own money. I've done my fair share of time and penance as a "Beta Tester" for gun companies. I'd just as soon wait for the "second" or "third" production or manufacturing refinements of some new model to come along.

My point.

Joking aside, after his first experience last year with that 365, he's subjected this new XL to a lot of range time, pushing it beyond where his last one had the broken striker firing pin. He's confident that SIG engineers have resolved any possible QC issues with the 365's striker pin design.

Then again, he's been looking at the newest production 320's pretty carefully, after having been a longtime Glock and M&P shooter. He recently picked up one of SIG's 320 RXP Pro 9's and has been rather pleased with it. He's scheduled a 320 armorer class later this winter to get a better look at the inner workings.

Competition tends to breed better plastic, just like it did with steel and aluminum.

Default Glock 26 vs Sig 365

I have had both guns and much perfer the Sig. The Glock is too much like a brick. The Sig comes with a safety which I appreciate having. When I was still working as a Detective I carried a Glock 33, but I sent it out and had a safety put on it first. I think with shipping it cost me about $150.00. I have been retired for a lot of years and the Sig 365 is easy to carry and extremely accurite, and it comes with a safety. Both are good weapons and the choice is personal preference.

I know I'm waaaaaaay late to the discussion. But I haven't gotten a Sig P365 not because it is a bad gun, but because it does nothing my other guns can't do. I have a Gen 4 G26 and G27. I've carried a G26 or G27 as a BUG off and on for the last decade at work. My duty gun has been a full size or compact GLOCK of one sort or another for the past fifteen years. I like that the duty gun mags work in my BUG. That's what has kept me with 'em.

Now that I've hanged up the badge. I just lug my 4566 instead.

I've been issued the following.

US Army:
FN M16A2
FN M249 SAW
Beretta M9

Police (four different agencies):
GLOCK 17 Gen 2
GLOCK 22 Gen 3
GLOCK 37 Gen 3
GLOCK 22 Gen 3
GLOCK 27 Gen 3
GLOCK 23 Gen 3
GLOCK 19 Gen 4

GLOCK 43
Remington 870 Special Purpose Marine Magnum
Rock River Arms LAR-15 Carbine
HK G36
HK UMP 9mm
HK MP5 9mm
HK 416

I've personally qualified with the following and carried during work.

Beretta 92FS
GLOCK 23C Gen 3
Remington 870 Police Magnum
GLOCK 35 Gen 3
FNH FNP-45USG
S&W Model 642
S&W Model 342Ti
GLOCK 21 Gen 3
GLOCK 26 Gen 4
GLOCK 27 Gen 4
Colt AR-15A3 Tactical Carbine (Model 6721)

Agree with the 26 being to big for pocket carry for most people and pants.

I finally get to pick up my P365 at the FFL tomorrow.
I'll be taking it directly to the range to wring it out so I can start carrying it.
I can hardly wait. Haven't had so much eager anticipated getting my hands on a new gun in a while.

EDIT: It was definitely worth the wait! I believe the previous owner put a couple of hundred rounds through it so it was already "broken in".
I put a couple of boxes through it myself, a mix of 115gr, 124gr, and 147gr ammo in FMJ-RN and FMJ-RNFP. Ate everything I gave it without so much as a hiccup. Here's my last 8" target of the session, shot 2 handed at 7yds. Nothing extraordinary, but not too bad for a first outing with a new-to-me gun. I'm already loving this one...

Just another data point on the P365 (XL at least) ....

I took a shooting class recently. One of the instructors was a USPSA Grand Master. In the class he demo'd a couple incredibly fast Bill Drills with his competition gun. I mentioned that was pretty cool, but wondered what was possible with a carry gun like my P365 XL.

He shot the Bill Drill with my stock P365 XL using factory Blazer 115 gr aluminum range ammo. He put all six shots in a group about the size of quarter. His splits were .15 +/- a couple hundredths.

The gun will definitely do it's part if you do yours. YMMV.

The sig p365 all day long. The Glock 26’s time has come and gone. It’s way too big for the capacity. I sold mine, as I have found that because of where the grip/mag ends, it transmits harsh recoil impulses directly into my wrist through my palm, and is uncomfortable to shoot. Arthritis in my wrists and hands is becoming an issue. I sold it to a coworker, and bought a p365. I never looked back.

It's been years since I fired a glock and did not like it. I pocket carried a S&W342, DAO j frame, until my wife kept saying it was showing in my pocket. I then got a Sig P938 which I pocket carried for several years, downside was the hammer sear area constantly attracted lint. I was in a gun shop and saw a 356 and an XL, the 365 was a manual safety model and priced about $150 less so I bought it. I have been playing with it somewhat like an erector set, put a Gray Guns straight trigger in, then a Mcarbo spring kit, got an XL grip module, which fits me much better, finally an xl slide and barrel so i could put a red dot on it. Now with my old eyes, cataracts ect, I can hit better with it than any of my larger target handguns, Something about it seems softer shooting than my Browning HP,

I looked at, and shot in the last couple of weeks, several different guns from Smith, Sig, Glock, Springfield Armory and Ruger in the compact/sub-compact class. I picked up my new 365 today and very excited about it.

Default Glock 26 vs SIG 365

I have had both. The Glock 26 is a nice gun but in my opinion it feels like you are holding a brick in your hand. My 365, with a safety, is one of the nicest guns that I have ever used. Its comfortable to both carry and shoot. It puts all the bullets in one hole out to 25 yards. It is my EDC weapon of choice.

Just saw this post...If you haven’t found one yet try ATLANTIC TACTICAL. They are usually in stock and back orders come FAST. They only sell to active / retired LEO, Military and first responders, which I believe you fit into from your Banners. Good luck.

Lawmens in Raleigh sells to cops, fire, corrections, judges and Indian chiefs . They may ship a P365 to your FFL, and you could pick it up.

I bought mine at dealer wholesale from Lawmens soon after they came out. The price currently is about $30 over what it was 3 years ago but much less expensive than I’ve seen online.

I was there this morning, new thread to come.

I found one at a LGS brand new for $519 last Friday. It came with two 10-round mags (flush and pinky extension) just like the one I bought. With tax and everything it would have been $565 OTD - only $30 more than I paid for a nearly new one with shipping and transfer fee a month or so ago.

So maybe some stock is finally coming back, and prices will return to sane levels again - in my area at least. Now if the same thing would just happen to ammo...

Update!

The Adaptive Defensive Shooting Summit has come and gone. I was not in a position to purchase the 365, but was fortunate enough to win one. I am currently waiting for both my permits to arrive, and my trophy to arrive at my local FFL.

Some reflection on previously offered commentary:
Try shooting the pistols. Unlike last year, this year, we had a demo bay that we could access on Friday during the lunch break. The vendors present included: S&W, Colt, Sig, Glock, and Daniel. With the exception of Colt, everyone had demo guns in 9mm. Colt had a new Python, a King Cobra, an Elite Combat 1911 and a Gold Cup Trophy. At the Sig booth, I shot the 365, and it handled nicely. At the Glock booth, I shot the G26, and it felt familiar, since I was shooting a G17.5. At the Smith booth, I shot the Smith Shield 9mm EZ, which required a little more effort on my part, and had the most muzzle flip of all the 9s that I shot. At the Canick booth, they had 3 or 4 models that they were eager to have everyone try, and they made the most concentrated effort to win the interest of the competitors.

Yes, the G26 WILL accept magazines from a G17 or a G19, but when you are limited to 10 rounds, that flexibility is moot!

The P365 vs G43X is a better comparison. Yes, size-wise, it is. However, because of where I currently live, I am lucky to CCW once or twice a month, so I like to look at versatility. If I were to get a G26, I could shoot that in the Sub Compact division, while I can shoot my G17 in the Civilian division. I was just shocked when I discovered that the G43X is considered a sub compact! This just made the decision process murkier!

I truly appreciate all of your advice!

I have big hands with long fingers, and much prefer bigger grips on my pistols. I usually carry a 365 with the manual safety. I have a thousand or so IDPA practices, usually with a 1911 of some sort, and by now flicking off the safety as I draw is second nature to me. I wanted the safety to reduce the risk of an AD if I carry in a pocket, which I rarely do. Usually IWB in Kydex. I have shot and handled a lot of smaller guns, and just can't fully grip them, but somehow, with the longer mag base on my gun, it fully fits my hand, and doesn't seem small at all, unlike like just about all other small guns do. And it shoots precisely to my point of aim. Being in SC, with the summer heat and humidity, I need a small weapon to conceal. Some of my other carry pistols don't have safeties, but do have a stout DA first shot, lessening the possibility of an AD. When I shoot my friends' Glocks, the grip angle just doesn't work for me. I practiced a lot with my carry guns, and have perhaps 500 or more thru my 365 with nary a hiccup.

Works for me... NV

I've expressed the same sentiments before. I do have some Glocks and a mini Kahr 40pm.

G27 and then G26 was my duty backup for years. Nothing wrong with either one. Two years ago I borrowed and then bought a P365. It has been my duty backup since that time. I now have a P365XL as well. My first P365 has somewhere over 2000 rounds through it. I changed the recoil spring somewhere between 1000 and 1250. Not because of any failures. I don't wait for my brakes to fail before I replace them, same with recoil springs. I have done nothing else to it. No titanium firing pins, no super cool 5 color cerakote paint and stipple, no futuristic hand carved slides. Just the out of box gun with one recoil spring change. Occasionally I get my stupid thumb in the way and keep the slide from locking open on an empty mag when shooting rapidly to empty. Other than that I have had zero issues.

I shoot it better than the 26. I hit with it as well as I do with the G19. I could never say that about the 26. It is easier to carry than the 26 and mine has been no less reliable than the 26.

I still have a 27 because it was my fathers before he passed, my personal 27 and 26 are both gone.

I would do my best to shoot both before you buy either, and then buy the one that works for you.

I've owned both a G26 and a 365 and still own the SIG. While I certainly admire it as an engineering exercise to fit that much pistol in a package that size, I never warmed to it. I felt the trigger was light to the point of being unsuitable for carry. I far perfer a Walther PPS and was an early adopter of that platform.

Just my $0.02. Have the 365 and a Gen 4 17. I can shoot rings around my 17 with the Sig. The only other pistol I own is a 1911 5" target model and I can barely outshoot the Sig with that. In like to refer to it as the PPKs we wish they had built. Better sights, better trigger, better ergos, larger capacity in a better performing caliber, etc. etc.
