Default Honest Wear.....Let's See It.

I bought this 642 in 1995 to carry as a duty backup. I bought the suede leather holster with a steel clip at the same time. I think I paid $10 for it. I carried it on duty until 2012, when I transfered from the Motor Unit to Training. In the summer I carried it inside my shirt under my left arm, tucked in between my body and the front panel of my body armor. In the winter I carried it in my left coat pocket without the holster.

All weather conditions, days, nights it soldiered right along with me where ever I went. Over the years it took a lot of honest abuse. It looks like hell, but works like a Missouri Mule. I still carry it from time to time off duty.

Got any guns you have put some honest wear on? Let's see um!

Well, if you insist...

My EDC, Beretta PX4 Compact:

My 25-year-old Beretta 92FS:

My Colt Series 80 Govt Model:

Despite being used regularly for several years, my 642-1 doesn't really show much wear, at least not in photos. *shrug*

1947 Colt commercial was a company gun for an armored car company on the west coast. Made its way to my company where I purchased it. Much honest wear. I fitted a Colt NM barrel to it. Wilson Combat spring kit and a trigger job from a talented friend shoots beautifully.
A friend sent me some American Wormy Chestnut Wood from a 1910 Amish made chicken coop. Kim Ahrends made grips for me out of the wood.
I made the knife with handle to match.

My well worn daily carry companion Springfield Armory Micro Compact .45. Bought it used in 2004 it's been on my hip almost constantly since. I have occasionally carried a S&W Shield in .45 or a Springfield 9mm EMP, but nothing quite shoots as instinctively as this Micro .45.
Had the SA Custom Shop checker the front strap and then they had it refinished in Birdsong's Black-T. I've had it long enough that I've already had to send it back to Trijicon for re-lamping which should take through the rest of my life.

I bought new in 1973 from Barrow. Carried in Bianchi belt holster, 5B I think, several years as jailer, and part time PD. Carried in hip pocket for many years as a farmer. Fell in Whitewater Creek with it in my pocket while priming irrigation pump. Several times. Stayed in my hip pocket on Atlanta Farmers Mkt most of several summers. Killed numerous rattlesnakes and two armadillos. Drew it with intent to use on human just once. Miscreants spotted the revolver, turned around and went the other way. Semi retired now, but it is in reach as I type this. Not for sale.

When you coming to visit?

I'll readily admit the "wear" on this July '53 shipped Baby Chiefs Special isn't mine, but I slide in into an Uncle Mike's shoulder rig pretty often nowadays.

The boys who worked for Lieutenant Kousky of the Queens, NY's 106th precinct must have thought a great deal of their boss back at Christmas '53!

I figured you LEO types could appreciate it. I know I sure appreciate what you all do for the rest of us!

As an aside: it's the earliest 3" Baby Chiefs known to be in the U.S.A. by forum members.

Not new and shiny, but it has been true and faithful. I've posted this "United States Property" marked 1911 before. It came to me through DCM sales in 1961. An uncle gave me the old wood grips to replace the plastic ones Rock Island put on it when they rebuilt/refinished it.

It was built to be a soldier's sidearm, and, even though both of us have long since been retired, it remains one.

Colt Python that had some honest use.
Not shot much. Picked up right and gave Ford's
a shot for a facelift.

Pleased how it turned out.....

1970 S&W model 19......still tight & right.

Shiny NIB stuff is impressive in it's own way but leaves me with a sterile feel. Well used with honest wear on the other hand has a soul with a personality written all over it.

Not at all concealed carry guns but carried nonetheless. These three are worthless to most besides me . They have been my companions for many miles and show it.

A 41mag and a 45C.

And a well worn mod. 51.

This 1957 Chief's Special rode with someone else for a lot of it's life.

Since I have been the care taker it has ridden in the right front pocket of my Levis, front inner pocket of my Carhartt jacket when it gets cold enough, and the center console of my pickup when I am on a road trip. It had character before I got it, it will have more by the time I pass it on. I added the Tyler Tee grip adapter so that it fits my hands better. The tactical red bandana is mine, I have worn holes through several over the years. The current bandana is the 5.0 version - still not very tacticool, but useful nonetheless.

The knife is a Benchmade, it was a birthday gift from my wife after she lost my other Benchmade in the mud while putting out round bales for the cows. I have almost worn the Tanto angle out of the blade, I guess that I need to learn to sharpen it better and keep that profile....I just know that it will come in hand some day.

This 13-1 shows some nice honest wear.
I've posted it before, its the one built on an over-stamped 10-6 frame.

This Model 10-5 was used by an Animal Welfare authority here in Australia before it came into my possession. (I changed the grips for a newer pair).
