I carry everything OWB in a custom fit holster. Been using a guy on Ebay...amazing custom-fit suede lined holsters for $80.

I don't often carry a J-Frame, but when I do it's in this Bianchi Shadow #8, at 4:00.
Model 60-0. (Chiefs Special)
Very comfortable.

Been carrying a 60-10 3" for years at 3 o'clock in a Bianchi 7 OWB. It goes everywhere and is with me all the time. I'm fairly big and it isn't. I've always worn untucked shirts and it doesn't print at all.

Usually in my right front jeans pocket. If i had to draw it,I'd put my thumb over the hammer so it wouldn't snag on anything. However I've stepped up in the world. Old eye glass case. Folded over the closed end, sewed both sides with nylon thread. Just the grip is exposed and no problems in drawing the model 36 that lives there. And does not print either. Frank

In a Berns Martin Triple Draw holster, The j frame is an old model 40 with a functional grip safety. The shoulder harness is a Galco.

When I carry a J-frame, it is a 642 in a Mika pocket holster.

I don’t prefer bobbed or no hammer models unless it is a Model 49 or 649 which has enough jammer left to cock but not enough to hang up when drawing from a pocket.

Similarly, as an LEO,a 642 loaded with Nyclads, in front LEFT pocket in a custom MIKA holster.....
And ALWAYS as a backup. Never as a primary.
Primary being a Sphinx SDP in a JM Custom Appendix carry.
Why EVER carry only ONE firearm?
What if one hand is busy fending off an attack, as I have experienced? Better to have something handy for the free hand.
And since most of us on this forum, have several firearms, why not make use of them.
In my experience, one is often NONE!

Pocket with a uncle's mikes inside the pocket holster.
Many times the pocket is a sweatshirt or jacket pocket as a backup.
Pants pocket for home carry.

I pocket carry a 649-2. For suit pants with vertical pocket openings I use a Mika round; for Levis I use a Mika square; for large pockets I use a DeSantis Nemesis. You will need more than one holster for pocket carry depending what you are wearing.

Model 442 in an Unc!e Mike's pocket holster, or a model 60 in a High Noon leather paddle holster.

none
Likewise a Chiefs Special in a Don Hume Just-In-Time belt slide. When I want carry a J frame more discretely it goes into a very thin soft six ounce leather IWB by Kirkpatrick Leather.

Thanks for kind words , the idea was from my East Texas Blacksmith grand paw , a simple but wise man .
After trying several leather holsters , pocket and IWB that didn't work for me I remembered where and how he kept his S&W handy and concealed .
Wally Mart had a Bandana package , one each in red , blue , green and black for $9.99 and the light went on ... do what the old man did . It works for me , helps with printing and most people "see" a folded bandana ...
Helps keep revolver clean and keeps pocket stuff out of / away from revolver in pocket , which is important .
I think of "bandana carry" as a sort of " Sneaky Pete" thing ...
What you see isn't what it is ... that's sneaky .
I have a night stand revolver also and keep it in a folded bandana , I know it's there but it stays out of "sight" .

In addition to the Black Hills Shark Skin pancake I showed previously in
this thread, here are a few more choices for carrying my 642-1, Left to
Right:
A little Chic Gaylord speed scabbard. Back then they made quite narrow
belt loops, so the only belt I have that fits is this old Uncle Mike's Mirage.
The knife, in all 5 photos is a very sharp Piranha.
A Safariland model 16 on a James belt.
A Bianchi Lightning on a Haugen belt. Good way to carry a concealed
hammer J Frame if you want retention.
Black Hills lizard trim on a lizard belt.
A Hunter floral carved on a Carson Belt.

And a few more for carrying my 642-1 with the first three being for IWB,
Left to Right:
Delfatti shark trim IWB on a Crescent shark belt.
The knife is a Kershaw Junkyard Dog II.
Alessi's black Hard Shell Talon.
Garrity's Inconspicuous IWB on Sparks gunbelt.
TJ's black gator high ride pancake on a Culver belt.
PWL's Havana speed scabbard on a Culver belt, and
the Junkyard Dog knife again.

Ninety percent of the time it's my 640 Pro in a Lobo Enhanced Pancake.
If I'm feeling a bit more colorful it's my 940 in a Von Ringler pancake.
Rarely it's my "project" Baby Chiefs in a custom made-for-a-Baby rig, shown before its redo in the holster and after its make-over.
In all these posts I'm a bit surprised not to see either a Milt Sparks or a Simply Rugged in the mongst.

Love the Karl Nill grips! What are the grips in #3?

Those are "boot grips" made by Craig Spegel.
Since the Baby Chiefs Special grip frame is ⅛" shorter than later Chiefs Specials, Craig didn't have a template for them. He used his Baby Chiefs to create the right size (I sent a pair of grips that perfectly fit that Baby Chiefs so he could get the shape exactly right).
I also sent a $5 Gold Eagle to Craig, and he inset it into the right grip.

Just an opinion - the SR Silver Dollar I ordered, which was well made, required two hands for reholstering and it's footprint was bigger than I prefer for EDC.

Mostly pocket carry in a cheap uncle mike’s holster.
Occasionally OWB in a Don Hume JIT slide or an Azula OWB pancake.

Carried several different J frames over the years my current one is a fantastic 340 M&P night sight no lock. Like all of them I use a sticky holster in my right side cargo pocket. I wear duluth trading flex firehose pants and shorts for work and play everyday. 100% full concealment in an enclosed pocket works great in a less than firearm friendly state.

There are times for me when pocket carry is what works. For those times, I use a Milt Sparks pocket holster.
I tried several of the cheaper options that got very positive reviews. For various reasons, they didn't work for me. I ordered the Milt Sparks and waited. I assumed I could sell it easily if I was unhappy with it. Turns out, it was exactly what I was looking for in terms of comfort, concealment, and pistol orientation in my preferred pockets. What I was not prepared for was the holster occasionally exiting my pocket with the gun.
I learned very quickly that a slight clockwise twist of my hand when drawing left the holster in the pocket every time. With a little practice, this has become muscle memory and is a very natural drawing motion for me.
For times when I want to carry my 442 IWB, I use a Lobo Offset Belt Clip.

In an El Cheapo Uncle Mikes clip holster, in the appendix carry position. It’s comfortable, super fast in presentation, and also fits my S&W Bodyguard 380. Eminently concealable.

I mostly carry in an OWB Crossdraw built for my 642 by Robert Dorris, but sometimes, pocket carry in a DeSantis Nemesis.

Sometimes a round Mika, or a square Mika as needed. Some pants require a Nemesis or even Cargo Nemesis. Uncle Mike even gets the occasional call.
