Should have a Classic M10 .38 w/4" on the night stand in a matter of days. Sold my first one years ago and regretted it ever since. Till then my Springfield HELLCAT will suffice nicely.

P226 with light, completely hidden, where I can lay my right hand on it without moving much, which I will use if I have to, to get to a suppressed DDM4 PDW 300blk with MRO and light that is also hidden but easily accessible (if you know how and where it is) within 4 feet of my bed.

Same gun I carry. A 638. I want to be able to hide it behind my hip with one hand if I have to answer the door in my undies.

Springfield XDM .40 (16rds) with laser & light + night sights. Hanging from hook on wall next to bed.
11-87 12ga. with 8rds. by front door. Guard dog outside. If they get past all of the above I am sure the 30 lb Maine Coon cat will get em or finish them off.

Good call! Forgot to mention the first line of defense, my dog! Have 2, one is a Shihzsu who is completely useless. But my other one, an 80lb Pyrador(half Labrador, half Great Pyrenees) is THE best watchdog I've ever had. Hears everything, sees everything, is always on alert and is fearless when it comes to protecting her "flock." She'd fight a grizzly bear(and lose) to protect us, but is super sweet with everyone she knows.

She actually broke an expensive double pane front window, cutting her paws and all, trying to kill an Amazon delivery guy. Ive corrected that behavior, but still.

My bedroom gun is flocked with flannel so I don’t get it mixed up with my shower gun which is plastic coated for water proofing.

For over 25 years, I have slept with my beloved 1006 under my pillow, in the headboard, on the nightstand, or in a bedside Gunvault. I'm in the process of replacing it with a Tanfoglio/EAA Witness P Match Pro 10mm with a Lasermax Spartan light/laser, but I need to shoot a few more boxes of ammo through the Tanfoglio before I rely on it.

First grab is a 686+. First backup is a M66 2-1/2”. Second is a M&P with laser grip.

For many years it was a Colt Police Positive Special, then a 1911 for several years.

At some point, I realized the light SAO 1911 trigger might not be the best idea since I am a very heavy sleeper, so a couple of years back a I got a police trade-in DAK .40 P226 with night sights for $300.

IMO it's the perfect bedside gun.

That said, I recently bought a Mossberg Shockwave and the OPSol mini shell adapter. With 8 rounds in the tube of 00 buckshot, I think it might take over bedside duty one I ops test it.

I also have a 300 BLK "pistol" with a brace that might see bedside duty, again once it is ops tested. I haven't been to the range in a year!

Laying on the bed , reading this thread , I can see probably 30 rifles and shotguns not to mention there are at least a dozen pistols in here . One designated as The Bedroom Gun ? Nope. They are all loaded so I just grab one and go .

I'm in Maine and half of California has moved here recently. 4/5's of the land mass of the state is conservative but the major population base of the state lives in a band along the seacoast and along the eastern New Hampshire border- and they are progressives. We recently had an incident where some children found an unsecured handgun and were playing with it when one of the children was shot. Odds on there will be regulations about storage. So I reluctantly have gone to a lock box screwed to the floor next to the bed within arms reach and certainly within reach if I roll out of bed. That's where I keep a 57 41 magnum 4" loaded with Keith style hollow point semi-wadcutters driven by a stiff load of Unique. I have an identical 57 as a carry gun and at night it lives in a lock box in my office downstairs. The rest of my guns are in a gun safe.
Both my wife and I are in our 70's and there are no young children who visit us yet here I am having to secure my guns on the oft chance that somebody might break in and injure themselves or someone else with my firearm and I will be found liable. Just another way the anti-gun left has put us on the defensive. IrishFritz

Default My Options...

In the nightstand are: an M&P .45 with Streamlight and extra mag, a Model 642 and Tuff speed strip, several fighting knives, a small tactical flashiight and a large Maglite. And in these crazy times I'm even considering getting my SWAT trade-in Model 870 12 ga. with Surefire forend light out of the safe and putting it by the bed. I might want to throw some hearing protection in the drawer, too. Not that I'm overly concerned mind you...just being prepared!

I have a quick open lockbox by the nightstand that has a S&W Shield 9mm, S&W 4013TSW, S&W M&P 40, and a Ruger LCR 38 Special (the wife's). My EDC is usually on top of the lockbox when I'm sleeping at night, either a 642-1 or a Ruger LC9s. All semi's have a spare mag with a quick strip for the revolvers.

I hope you've practiced with that light in your home at night with your eyes adjusted to the darkness. I found that even if a high-powered light didn't produce blinding glare off white walls, I was essentially blind after turning the light off. I couldn't see for several seconds while my eyes re-adjusted to the darkness, and that was with a ~360-lumen light.

For me, I found that around 200 lumens gave me sufficient brightness to see, didn't produce glare off the walls, and allowed my eyes to re-adjust to darkness quickly. I currently use a Surefire 6P with a Malkoff 200-lumen warm flood lamp assembly as my nightstand light.

I keep a Model 59 next to the bed. If he survives the 15 rounds I pumped into him I can always bludgeon with the empty pistol.

Glock 23 (40 caliber ) if I do

Alarm system is my 70lb pit bull that sleeps at the end of the bed when I’m home and in the bed with my wife when I’m not

These threads only mildly amuse me....Perhaps another thread for another day! For me, and I'm not trying to be a buzz-kill, but what I have as a "bedroom" gun is the one that I would care less about if it got taken........and it isn't stoked with a 100ct mag, laser, flashlight, Zombie repellent, super-spy, FBY trickery.... and I'm sure as heck NOT going to take a picture of it!

Veridian makes a lower power light/laser with exactly that in mind. Around 120-ish lumens IIRC.

An old 3" Charter Arms Bulldog 44 Special in the night stand and a speedloader both with mild LSWCHPs, there is also one of the same set up in the den, in a drawer near the front door, and the master bathroom. They were cheap in the old days!!!

My nights stand? It depends what I put in there as my safes are in my room too. I have many choices.. Whatever firearms are in the door pockets are loaded. I usually have my CCW in the night stand which tonight is my Sig P938. I had been keeping the SW 4006TSW (CHP) with a rail mounted light. But with the grandkids in the house a lot lately I have been keeping my night stand empty. I also keep a loaded Mossburg 500 Riot Gun in the room somewhere available but concealed.

I currently use a Surefire 6P with a Malkoff 200-lumen warm flood lamp assembly as my nightstand light.
i've got several old Surefire's with the Malkoff assemblies and highly recommend Malkoff products.

I live in a quiet condo community, in a small town where violent crime is extremely rare. We have not had a homicide here since 2012...there were 14 assaults in 2019...8 burglaries that year, etc. But you never know, so...

My bedside gun is my 3" Model 65 with Ahrends grips, with Winchester .38+P 125-gr. SJHPs, with a Surefire flashlight in a Boyt gun rug...just in case.

It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it...

66 3” it’s my go to these day’s. Had a 27-2 3 1/2 in the night stand for years. Let it go last year when I got a nicer one. That one is staying in the dark safe way in the back!

340 M&P ON the dresser.
20 ga. Wingmaster with a 20" barrel loaded with #6 NEXT to the dresser
In a closet on the ground floor an 1894 Winchester with a satchel containing an extra 75 rounds.
Various and sundry things in sheds, garages and cars.
Wife's got a bunch of "stuff" laying around I don't keep track of.

Just an update: now I also have a brigade arms 9mm BM9 in the corner. Feels sturdy and really excited to bring it to the range.

I do worry about home invasion. Like others on this thread I have a 20 gauge Mossberg Shockwave I've nicknamed "Sweetness" and keep loaded cruiser ready minus 1 in the tube with 4 more shells in a side saddle. In the the bedside pistol safe is usually a 9mm with a few mags and my 640 CC in .357 with 2 extra speed loaders. If there is full herd of zombies coming up the driveway there also a 12 gauge 590A1 loaded in cruiser ready with a full side saddle in the long gun safe. I've studied it and decided my home is a tactical nightmare with too many blind corners and other vulnerabilities from multiple angles to defend the downstairs. However, to get to the bedrooms and my office upstairs requires coming up a long steep flight of stairs where I hold all the advantages of defending a choke point with cover and blind corners that now work for me. The combination of the Shockwave as a short barrel scattergun and a handgun is pretty potent in that restricted space and that is where I'd make my stand in a worse case scenario.
