Default Belt loop interference

Have you found a pant/shorts brand and carry combo where the belt loops aren't right where you want to put holster?

I work from home and don't need to wear dress pants. Also, I live in FL so I'm in cargo shorts for a large part of the year. I've found a lot of holsters seem to want to be right where there's a belt loop. Holsters with clips seem to be the most flexible when it comes to positioning.

Thoughts?

Buy a seam ripper, remove the belt loop and/or replace it where you want it to be. I am a old guy and I have become sorta handy with thread and needle.
You seem to have looked and found clip holsters that work. That is good! You have to find what works or make it so it does. Happy New Year!

I use these clips from Discreet Carry concepts, they split my loop at 3 o clock

So far I've been lucky and have not had that problem, but if you can't adjust the holster position to fit you can always move the belt loop, either yourself or have a tailor do it.

My go-to OWB holster design is the Avenger/scabbard design.
Most times the holster can 'straddle' the belt loop, just takes an extra second putting it in place. Then, it's pretty much immobile and a great way to carry.

I use pancake holsters exclusively at 4 o clock and have always been able to straddle the belt loop that usually lives between 3 and 5 o clock.

I routinely have the belt loops on my pants moved a bit by the seamstress at the cleaners.

For a few dollars, my pant belt loops are custom fitted to my holster.

What he said.

Even if it requires shifting the holster an inch on way or the other, I don't see that as a big deal.

When I was first assigned to plain clothes I learned a few things about carrying a sidearm:

1. Belt loops are never where I want them to be, but they can be easily removed and put in places that won't interfere.

2. Belt loops on dress trousers and suit trousers are frequently too narrow to accept a good gun belt. When buying new suits and trousers I had the material saved from cuffing the pants so that oversized belt loops could be made.

3. A panel of light canvas or denim can be made and sewn into jacket linings around the waist and torso areas. This keeps sharp edges of the holstered handgun from tearing up suit coat linings, and also minimizes "printing".

4. Some weight at the bottom of the jacket openings helps to keep the garment hanging properly, and is useful when sweeping the coat tail aside to draw the weapon. A few large fender washers sewn into the bottoms of the jacket lining work nicely.

5. Cops, and others carrying for legitimate business purposes, can take the cost of clothing specifically made or altered for business uses as a tax-deductible business expense.

I am retired now. My wardrobe consists mostly of Wranglers and Carhartts. I still move belt loops to desired locations.

Yep, straddle. All my pants have belt loops in the wrong place. No movement, no belt sag, no problem.

Another option that locks the holster in position.

That's why I carry exclusively paddles and IWB's with a single clip or snapping loop . . .

When I shoot in competitions, like IDPA, and put my holster's on, I always wonder why pants supposedly made for "carry" don't have extra loops sewn on, so the wearer could use and ignore ones that don't fit the wearer's holster position.

At my request, Keith44special made me a number of holsters with that feature.
As Lil Beaver would say, "That workum heap good, you betchum, Red Ryder!"

Indeed! I saw it on one of yours and have been requesting it on any I have made. This way there is no need to move the belt loops. And if you were a separate gun belt, it doesn’t interfere.

I have found I prefer holsters that fit my revolvers and unfortunately I am not aware of many big companies that will accommodate that request. They prefer to have holsters that fit a variety of models.

So, I use custom makers to build my leather gear. Those holster were built for my revolvers by two different individuals. And for less money than any of the big companies.

Here is the front view.
