Default My favorite concealed carry slacks/pants

I don't know the difference between slacks or trousers, but I do know that for "casual" wear, the Columbia Sportswear pants pictured are my favorite for concealed carrying. As can be seen, there is a concealed, zip-up pocket on the right front position. This pocket can readily hold a holstered(DeSantis Nemesis), loaded J-frame sized revolver. While there are some who don't think it's necessary
to use a pocket holster, I always use a holster when pocket carrying as a matter of safety as the pocket holster helps prevent stray objects from entering into the trigger guard area.

My usual EDC consists of a Model 638-1 and a Model 38-0. I usually carry the 2nd revolver in either my left front pant's pocket, or in a OWB holster in the 8:00 position.

Regards,

Dave

I guess that answers the question, "Is that a gun in your pocket or are you glad to see me?"

My preference is cargo pants. This gives me an extra pocket on each side so the gun can be the only object in the top right pocket. Like you, I carry a 642 in a Nemisis. It at least keeps out some of the pocket lint and dog biscuit crumbs. My only comment is that I am not sure I would want to carry with the pocket zippered closed. Just not quick enough when needed.

Unfortunately, I’m fighting Stage 3 (of 4) pancreatic cancer. I’m down to 120 lbs. and we have to fight to keep any calories on-board. God has a great sense of humor - I had a weight problem all of my life, now I’m trying like hell to keep any weight on board. Thank God for this forum and the good people on board. You guys really keep me going.

Regards,

Dave

Dave, all the best!

====================================

I carry a M649 in all kinds of pants pockets. I don't like Airweights and it's virtually no different. I admit the easiest are cargo pants. I use the standard hip pockets but in cargo pants the pockets are deeper and larger than in slacks/trousers, suit pants (which I never wear anymore), or jeans. I use a Galco nylon pocket holster and it does the job perfectly.

One side note that y'all might like.

I have been carrying pocket guns for 40 years. Mouse guns, J-frames, and small 9mms. I have a 3.5" x 3.5" square of leather that I always place in front of whatever gun I drop into my pocket. Not only does it totally prevent any gun from "printing", it looks like a wallet in tight pockets and it's invisible in loose pockets. It's just a piece of leather folded around a piece of plastic and stitched all the way around. If you have a sewing machine you can make one yourself. My cobbler made mine because I don't have a sewing machine. It lasts forever, it doesn't get in the way of pulling the gun out of your pocket and NOBODY ever knows you have a gun. Trust me on this - many times friends have looked at me and said they knew I had a gun but didn't have any idea where it was.

<<I don't know the difference between slacks or trousers>>

LOL... years back we were in a London hotel and talking to the young woman from Cyprus who manned the front desk. We asked here where was a good place to buy pants... got the strangest look!

Turns out that "pants" meant underwear to her. Outer pants were "trousers".

(She was also mystified that we would expect a hotel to have ice. We traded a few letters over the next few years, including one where she said she had moved in with roommates and had to sleep in the "launch"... ? yacht??? Took me a while to realize she meant "lounge"!)

My EDC is a pocket carry and is so small that I can wear virtually anything; blue jeans usually.

My Desantis Superfly has a removable 5.25" x 5.25" outer flap that works just as you describe. Very effective and I use it all the time with my P365.

FYI - FWIW, my smallest pocket carries are my Seecamp (.32ACP), and my NAA revolver (.22 Magnum). The Seecamp makes it difficult to have an excuse to be unarmed.

Dave

I became a lot happier when I tailored the clothes to the gun, rather than the gun to the clothes.

I don't hate cancer for what it has done to me.
I HATE cancer for what I've seen it do to others.

Wranglers...... I don't pocket carry. Except rarely in summer in cargo shorts.. 337PD or Colt .380 Pocket lite.

Cancer sucks.... wife had breast cancer but is fully clean for over 5 years... learned my last "girlfriend" died 3 years ago at 58 after a 2 year struggle.

Wranglers....you need to be familiar with the many styles available. i order mine from the Wrangler online site, as that is the only place i can get exactly what i want and even know what is available. i do remember $3.25 jeans in the 50's.....now it's 10X that and more. not complaining. i remember .60 .22 long rifle ammo also.

I 2nd this. A full size, 5" 1911 will fit in the pocket, too.

Nobody believes that I can pocket carry a 1911.

The look on ppls faces when I show them.....

Edit: I do not use the fleece lined pants, I get the Fire Hose Flex's.

Dave, my thoughts and prayers are with you. As a two time cancer survivor, I can appreciate what you are going through. Your attitude, along with the team of doctors treating you are your greatest asset. When I first learned that I had cancer; I told my doctor that i was going to beat it, or die trying.
