Default PERSONAL PROTECTION BASICS

Before I retired, one of the classes I taught was BASIC PRINCIPLES
OF PERSONAL PROTECTION IN THE HOME.
The text book for the class was an NRA publication: NRA Guide
To the Basic Principles of Personal Protection in the Home.

Over 200 pages of good solid illustrated information. The book
is still available from NRA at suggested retail of $19.95, and
it is available on auction sites for even less.

I have been around the block a few times, but I learned some
things when I read it in preparation for the class. I think you
will too.

My wife and I took the NRA “Refuse to be Victim” class a few years ago. It had very little to do with guns, more about awareness and the small things to do around the house to protect against crime. I considered myself to be pretty knowledgeable about such things, but I will be the first to admit I (We) learned a lot from the course. Made a few changes in our daily routines around the house as well as when we’re out and about.

Practice, practice & practice but if there is any way to avoid a shooting - definitely do so! In today's society no matter what the circumstances are and how righteous your shooting was, you will most likely be charged and will have to defend yourself. Costly, embarrassing, could make you a pariah for future employment, and something we just don't need to happen if a situation can be at all avoided! Shoot ONLY as the very last resort!

Ill have to buy a copy. I've spoken at a few places about self defense shootings in the home ant workplace.

#1 rule of surviving a gunfight. Dont get in one.
#2 if you do get in one, make sure youve trained 50x harder than him
#3 revert to #1 unless you have no choice.
#4 If you dont have a choice Revert to rule #2
#5.I think we get the point

Train train train, because your life does depend on it.

That's not really true, not even close. Not the part about shooting as a last resort, I'll give you that, but being charged in a "righteous shooting"? Especially inside your home. Maybe in New York, California, New Jersey, and England but with all of the stand your ground statutes and castle doctrines passed in so many states you're very unlikely to be charged with anything if you defend yourself at home.

Unless you do something stupid......like take a coup de grace shot.
