Default Reloads for CC

I know what you're thinking. We've beat this to death. But did you ever think---If you ever got into a shooting, and went to court, the lawyers are going to do an internet search and find everything you've ever posted about guns, and pick through that and use it against you?

Seems that could be far more damaging than using target wadcutters in your snubbie.

Wonder what Maas would say about this?

I believe that each individual case is it’s own example and if you were involved in a situation that is questionable on any level, ANYTHING is on the table, and if your situation is closer to a complete no-brainer, then much less so.

With that said, I believe that anyone digging up whatever you said online is as prevalent and likely this moment than it ever has been in man’s history and tomorrow it will be more so.

We've actually talked about that, too; quite a bit.

You statement doesn't worry me in the least. I'll won't lose any sleep over it. IF I survive a bad encounter I could care less what ammo I use.
BTW....Go back through the 76,000 post on this and find ONE(1) case where it mattered and report back......See in 6 years.

Here is a business idea I am too lazy to pursue: Sell a service like LifeLock except it's a deadman switch to delete your internet history and wipe your hard drive in the event of an arrest. Maybe for an extra $10 a year they will send a guy out to scrape the bumper stickers off your truck.

I don't believe people should carry guns to defend themselves. Guns are bad. Most criminals are just misunderstood and don’t deserve to be shot by gun nuts acting in “self defense.”

The point I was trying to make is, some lawyer could get on a site like this and find all your posts and use them against you in a court of law. I wasn't aware this part of the issue had already been discussed.

They do it now on job interviews. And politics...

My bigger question is if I--hypothetically--am involved in a shooting and charged for it, how would a prosecutor, in all the thousands of forums online, find any of my posts under an anonymous username? I sure wouldn't tell the DA what forums or usernames I used.

The prosecutor doesn't, they have minions for that sort of thing. Perhaps one of our esteemed members of the bar might chime in with the details on the process.

BTW, there was a case here in Virginia that Mas worked where the state crime lab used an exemplar round from a different lot in GSR testing than the one used in the shooting, resulting in a conviction. The conviction was overturned when Federal (independent 3rd party) pointed out that the lots used different powders which invalidated the GSR test results. Retrial ended in acquittal.

Seize your computer , router and interface, DO a search for any post via your isp and narrowed by your equipment's max address. If they want it they will get it. You could wipe your hard drive and they could still get everything you posted. They could also get your Mac address from your provider.

Depends on how bad they want you.

That's what I was thinking. If you got mixed up in a high profile case they for sure would get your browsing history.

Unfortunately, the falsely accused probably lost his house, car, and life savings in the process to pay attorney fees.

On the 1st hand, it’s not something I’m concerned about, most of the time I have reloads in my CC gun.

I didn’t watch it all, but had the Rittenhouse trial on some when I was home. Part of that was a time when the prosecutor was doing a deep dive into the exact ammo Kyle had in the gun. I forgot the make or grain, but it was FMJ ammo.

Let’s say Kyle had some type of super-dooper reloads from the uncle, ‘man stopper bullets’. I have no doubt the prosecutor would of tried to make hay out if it. Was Kyle out to kill since he had the specialty bullets loaded?

Luckily most of us won’t be in that heavy of spotlight. As one guy mentioned, the cleanest shoot is usually when the long time criminal with a record & weapon, is shot by a C.C. holder having a clean record.

Can the moderators lock this thread and I'll start a new one with a more specific title? People are not reading the OP and they're being mislead by the title I've given it.
