We have CCWs but cannot always carry at our destinations. My wife has decided to carry a .45 in her vehicle. I would like for her to be able to carry the pistol and at least one extra magazine. Does anyone have experience with the Desantis Pro Stealth N87 holster. It looks like that holster with its attached mag pouch would be a good way to protect the weapon and ammo. At least I think it would work better than the gun pouch and separate mag pouch I am using for my 229. I would appreciate your views and better ideas. Thank you.

I use the Center of Mass (COM) keyed gunsafe cabled to the seat frame. One in the trunk also keeps my BUG secure. Both keyed alike, or you can order a combo lock version. The large size has room for full size Semi-Auto and a couple of xtra mags.
They were great to deal with as well.

I carry my CZ-82 in the car in the center console. Seems to work fine.

In Missouri, ANYONE who is not a convisted felon can have a loaded handgun ANYWHERE in their automobile. Good law!

Just dump it in the console or glove box. As long as the gun is behind some sort of lid or cover, you are legal.

I have one, and I don't particularly like it. Here are my thoughts:

Pros:
- Keeps the magazine and pistol together.
- Solid steel belt clip.
- Ballistic nylon is tough
- Padded sides are stiffened, allowing one-handed reholstering.
- It's ambidexterous.

Cons:
- The magazine and pistol on the same side will drag your pants down on that side quickly. It's a lot of weight in one place.
- If you're going to keep it in the car, unless you're going to use the clip to mount it somehow, the magazine and pistol will fall over and/or out. It's not designed as a car holster.
- It's thick. With the padding and the stiffened spine that backs-up the magazine, it's actually really thick. You put a thin gun in it, it's a waste of a thin gun. You put a thick gun in it, and it's REALLY thick. There's no win.
- Because it's so thick, it makes a HUGE bump IWB, and it screams either "Deformed" or "Carrying a Gun" unless you're wearing a thick jacket over it.

I think carrying in a car, she'd do better to have it in a concealed carry purse, or a Maxpedition pack of some kind. I used it for a while in the car as you're describing, and I kept it in the center console box. On end, it would fall over. On end with a mag, it would fall over faster. On its side, the gun fell out with every hard stop.

I'm not sure what to tell you that would work better, but I CAN tell you that it didn't work great.

That is not entirely correct. You must also be 21 years of age or older:

Quote:
Missouri Revised Statutes
Unlawful use of weapons--exceptions--penalties.
571.030. 1. A person commits the crime of unlawful use of weapons if he or she knowingly:

(1) Carries concealed upon or about his or her person a knife, a firearm, a blackjack or any other weapon readily capable of lethal use;
.
.
.
3. Subdivisions (1), (5), (8), and (10) of subsection 1 of this section do not apply when the actor is transporting such weapons in a nonfunctioning state or in an unloaded state when ammunition is not readily accessible or when such weapons are not readily accessible. Subdivision (1) of subsection 1 of this section does not apply to any person twenty-one years of age or older transporting a concealable firearm in the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle, so long as such concealable firearm is otherwise lawfully possessed, nor when the actor is also in possession of an exposed firearm or projectile weapon for the lawful pursuit of game, or is in his or her dwelling unit or upon premises over which the actor has possession, authority or control, or is traveling in a continuous journey peaceably through this state. Subdivision (10) of subsection 1 of this section does not apply if the firearm is otherwise lawfully possessed by a person while traversing school premises for the purposes of transporting a student to or from school, or possessed by an adult for the purposes of facilitation of a school-sanctioned firearm-related event.
