I just received my first handgun, a S&W SW9ve. I was testing the fit with a Blade-Tech small-of-back holster that I had previously purchased. It fits great, but there is one problem. When I holster the firearm, the magazine release presses against the holster and pops the magazine out about a 1/4". It looks like the cutout for the release just isn't quite the right shape.

Has anyone else had this problem? I know that I could cut away a tiny piece of the holster, but I would prefer not to damage it, in case I decide not to keep it.

Is it possible to heat and bend the material in this type of holster?

Any advice (short of not carrying sob) would be appreciated.

jeff

I have had similar problems with some holsters and 1911's that had oversize magazine releases. I opted to replace the release with a standard sized one. Is it possible your pistol has an ovesize/after market release?

If not and the holster is intended for that pistol, contact the maker of the holster and explain the problem. They should be able to get you squared away.

Don't modify your holster. You will get crucified in court if you have to shoot someone in self defense.

In case you think I'm serious, I'm poking fun at all the rubes who think that doing any kind of alterations to a firerm will give ammo to a sue-happy lawyer.

Thanks for the reply. Regarding the above, I don't think so. Firearm was factory new.

As a holster maker, I have to agree with 44forever. Please contact the manufacturer, describe the problem, and see what they can do for you.

You might also be saving a lot of other folks from having the same problem.
