Default M&Pc 9mm ccw ammo choice

Hey guys/gals...I just got my M&Pc 9mm yesterday. I was curious if there is any ammo to stay away from for ccw (non-reliable feeding/ejecting). I was planning on using Winchester Ranger RA97 (147gr non +p). Right now I'm just carrying plain WWB 147gr hollowpoint. What are you all using/reccomend?

As for holster I was looking at getting a crossbreed supertuck. Anything else I should look at instead?

Thanks for you help!

Yu know what? These days ammo is in such short supply that I simply carry what they have available at the gun store at the time.

Right now I've got Speer Got Dots. Also have carried Hornady.

Carry one myself.
And it's exactly as Ironbar said anymore. Any decent S/D loading short of a FMJ. I'd prefer the 147's, but currently have 124 G/D non +P in her. I run the 12+1 magazine in her full of the 124 G/D's and the 17 round reload magazine full of 124 FMJ's. The first mag's content being the most important. I'm figuring if I've gotten to mag #2 I'll probably be looking for a load with more penetration, since anyone with good sense is going to be behind something by that time?

I never had any feed issues with mine with any ammo. But I do know quite a few guys mostly .40 but 2 9mm that had feed issues with WWB also fail to eject and 1 fail to extract. I'm not saying anything against WWB cause I have used it extensively but I would stay away for carry ammo go with the Rangers or Federal or Speer GD. You are going to LOVE that gun I actually just sold mine to get my 642 and also I own a Glock 19 that I felt was easier to conceal because my M&P had the ambi safety, but man that was a sweet gun to shoot and was accurate as hell. Good luck with it you're gonna love it, I highly recommend you polish the feed ramp. A Dremel tool on slow and some Turtle Wax rubbing compound that you would get at any auto parts store, it takes 5 minutes...

I polished the feed ramp on my P3AT in a few minutes with Q-tips and Flitz.

Find a load that's 100% reliable in your gun by putting 100 rounds through it without a stoppage of any kind. If all you can find in enough quantity and/or afford is FMJ, then run FMJ. FMJ isn't what I like and 147 gr. isn't either, but you have to run with what the gun likes.

I've been using Rem-UMC 115gr JHPs in my 9mms for a while. Why? It was all that I could get in any numbers and I bought a bunch of it when I could still find it. Not the best ammo out there, but usually feeds well. It's a legacy from when I had a P6.

The Ranger ammunition is probably a better load. As to whether you want to run a 147gr or a 124 gr (many people like +P), that's up to you and also what you can afford/find.

Things to stay away from? Frangibles/exotics like Glasers, Extreme Shock, RBCD, MagSafe, and the like are controversial and many people don't like them. RBCD seems to have serious quality control issues given the results posted here of ammunition that was pulled down.

I personally do not use Corbon ammunition. Maybe their QC is better than it used to be, and by many accounts it is, but I had split cases and bulged primers years ago using their 115 gr +P (hot) JHPs back in the era when the gun mags were mostly touting it. I simply don't trust their products. To be fair, if I remember right, they used to make loads that didn't conform to SAAMI standards, but since have agreed to abide by such.

I have used and will use Double Tap ammunition. If you want "hot rod" rounds, I'd get it from them.

I carried Speer GD 124+P Short Barrel in my M&P9c. I think the standard velocity is just as good; the +P offers a little extra velocity and energy to cycle the action.

I carry Cor-Bon DPX in my 9c. Speer Gold Dot 124 +P also is 100% reliable and is very accurate in mine. I like the DPX a little better for its low recoil and low muzzle flash.
