Now that S&W has produced guns with the lock, I don't see how they can be discontinued. Maybe a redesign, but not elimination. May as well go ahead and deed the factory to the family of the first child accidentally shot with a post-IL revolver. Fill-in the name when the time comes. Considering the costs involved in switching production to a non-IL product line, there's probably very little incentive in any case.

pinkymingeo- Given your reasoning, please explain how S&W is currently offering a choice of IL, or NO IL, in it's M&P pistols?

I, for one, would love to hear it. Thanks! Regards 18DAI.

Model 19 Combat Magnum. Everything you need in a revolver, and nothing you don't.

S&W makes autoloaders? Who on earth would buy one of those?

Does anyone know how sales have been for S&W revolvers since they started making them with IL (as compared to prior to the IL), and more recently as word of IL failures have spread through the gun community? My local gunstore clerk stated that sales in the last year or two of all handguns have been breaking all records. If S&W is getting a fair share of booming sales, they certainly will have no motivation to reconsider the IL issue.

VERY cool!
Only from Davidson's,right?
.45 LONG Colt! How does it shoot? Can you shoot "hot" loads in it?
Just to keep on subject,"NO FRICKIN IL!"
YES!

redeux,
It's not an IL like on the S&W;so it can't lock up the gun, right?
My apolgies to the list;but I just wanted to ask redeux to let me know how he likes the short-bbl'ed Vaquero once he's shot it a couple times. Also, how does it carry(?)

I just got a Kimber SIS 3"er(no IL);otherwise I would have a Ruger Montado already!
Oh,I got rid of my S&W 329...whew;that thing was absolutely painful to shoot. I think it cracked my thumb-bone. A 28oz. 44Mag.;what the heck was I thinking!!?? Dang.

Thnx,
mike

Old Griz,
My 329 had a 4"bbl. It was the alloy frame and titanium cylinder(lightness) that kicked my butt(cracked my thumb).
I am seriously looking at a 3", 629 Carry/Comp with ported bbl that weighs 10 or 12 oz more. It should be a powder puff to shoot compared to the "world's lightest 44 magnum revolver",(329).
I just want something more than a 1911/.45ACP when in bear country.

cameron... the full steel 3" 629 is a great gun... I have a couple of them. No need for any ports... all that will do is blast flash and searing heat straight up into your line of fire. Save your money and pass on the ports. An all steel 3" 629 is a great gun. SO is the 4".

Be kind.... everyone you encounter is fighting battles which you have no awareness of.

Check out what Scalia stated in his opinion for Heller.

3. The handgun ban and the trigger-lock requirement (as applied to self-defense) violate the Second Amendment. (Cite as: 554 U. S. ____ (2008) 3 Syllabus)

Does make one wonder IF the IL can now go away (??).

Can't wait to hear how gun sales go up and the crime rate goes down in the DC area now. That is, if the media will report it.
