Please include the folks in our area in your prayers.

We are situated right on the banks of the Mississippi River, about halfway between Burlington, IA and St. Louis, MO.

Between the Quad Cities and St. Louis, the only bridges still open to cross the Mississippi River are 1 here in Quincy, IL and another just north in Keokuk, IA. The Keokuk bridge may close today.

This is the same situation we had in 1993 and 1973. So much for the "100-year flood level". Three times in 35 years.

The IL. side here is mostly on a large bluff but our neighbors, friends and co-workers to the north, south and across the river in Missouri stand to lose a great deal. Levees are failing all around us. Some sandbagging efforts were halted because the river was coming up too quick and it was no longer safe to be there.

Thank You.

"So much for the "100-year flood level".

As a resident of the "100 year flood plain" that 100 year calculation is all insurance statistics therefore does not translate into English. You will soon, for insurance premium purposes, be in the 5 year flood plain. Wink

Fox News is now reporting that the Keokuk, IA bridge across the Mississippi is closed.

Between I-80 and St. Louis, if you want to drive across the Missississi, it's Quincy, IL or nothing.
