"You are not robbing this bank".
http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/16623012/detail.html CANTON, Mich. -- Police arrested a 53-year old Washtenaw County man on Monday in connection with attempting to rob a bank in Canton. Police said the man walked into the Comerica Bank at 45420 Michigan Avenue and handed the bank teller a note stating he had a bomb strapped to his body and demanded money. Canton Police Detective Richard Pomorski said the teller activated the bank’s silent alarm and began to put $1 bills into a bag. Another teller realized what was happening and informed the customer she was serving about the robbery. Police said the longtime customer then turned toward the suspect, pulled out a concealed handgun, pointed it at the suspect and stated “you are not robbing this bank.” The customer then escorted the suspect at gunpoint over to a chair where he was cornered until police arrived. Police said the customer had a concealed weapons permit. The suspect did not have a bomb. No injuries were reported. The suspect is expected to be arraigned Tuesday. Some bank tellers actually serve customers (and not to the wolves). Hard to believe but true. NRA Endowment Life Member NRA Certified Instructor, RSO OGCA MAAC MUCC |

Not much on the local news here either, I suspect it doesn't fit their agenda. I’m not sure what the customer did was smart, but I love a happy ending. NRA Endowment Life Member NRA Certified Instructor, RSO OGCA MAAC MUCC |

Just not newsworthy, I guess, when a guy with a gun prevents a crime. Go figure.
If the CCW holder had shot a bystander by mistake or caused the robber to actually set off a bomb you can bet your ass that it would be the lead story on TV... ...We Don't Rent Pigs... |

The bank will probably sue the woman for being discourteous to the other customer who was trying to make a withdrawal.

I say "attaboy" (attagirl?) in this particular case. But... it's a good thing the robber didn't actually have the bomb claimed.
Be safe. |

Are banks still allowed to call them "tellers" and "customers"? I thought the new language (at least based on some retail stores) was "associates" and "guests"! "What are you gonna do, son? Eyeball me to death?" (Bruce Dern, from 'The Laughing Policeman') |

If the bank executives read about this, do you think they'll start taking down those stupid, pointless "No Guns" decals on their doors???!!!

I think if my wife and kids were in that bank, I'd rather the guy left with his fistful of one-dollar bills than to have someone pull a gun on him and confront him inside the bank.
I know that's not P/C to say on a gun board, but there it is.....Did the teller who told the gun-carrying customer tell him "There's a guy who says he has a bomb robbing the bang" or did she just say "We're being robbed?" It's one thing to assume the guy saying his has a bomb is bluffing. It's another to assume he doesn't have a gun when all you know is "we're being held-up." All concerned are lucky there wasn't a back-up armed robber waiting in line covering the first guy. |

Boomstick out in left field Not facing the plate but watching the fans and vendors. Batter hits flyball, just misses his head. Each has his right to wish what he wants. For a reality check, not one person in a thousand has the ability to build a "bomb". Even fewer have the ability to make one that goes bang when intended. Its summer. People don't wear a lot of padding. One quick check will reveal pretty much information. When a person has a bomb strapped to his body, if it goes off, the only sure casualty is the wearer. Depending on the persons apparent nationality, dress, and attire, it could easily be a safe bet to call their bluff. Dick Burg Its quantity, not quality |

In Nebraska, they'd be sharing a cell. CCW guy would probably loose his permit for awhile.

If I were going to rob a bank, the last thing I would take is a bomb. Anyone who says they have a bomb is full of crap. Good job on the CCW guys part. I'm sick of this stuff and wish he would have shot the jackass. Boomstick raises a good point about the robber having a back up, but I'd play the odds (while keeping my back to a counter or wall) that anyone that stupid is probably alone.
Don't carry a gun because of what may happen today. Carry because once, just once, and at the least likely time imaginable, you may run into the worst monster you ever could imagine. Be their worst nightmare and resist them with all the stubbornness that our pioneer ancestors posessed. To do less is to be unamerican. |
