This past week an officer on the St. Pete PD was forced to shoot a 17 year old kid when the kid pointed a pistol at him. It was at a graduation party and the kids were shooting into the air "celebrating". When approached and told to drop the weapon the kid refused and instead turned and pointed at the officer. The officer did what he had to and I would have done the same thing. The officer is former USMC, has been to the sandbox and seems to have glowing reports from nearly every one. He has been on the police force for two years. There is an activist group (UHURU) in St. Pete that is crucifying this young officer. It just pisses me off to no end that this group is always causing dissention here locally. Naturally according to family and friends this was a "good" kid and would never hurt anyone. What the hell is a 17 year old doing with a pistol and shooting it into the air for then if he's such a good kid? There were 250 other students present but none will come forth and give statements. This is the type of neighborhood where these incidents almost always happen. A few months ago, in this same neighborhood, the police were forced to shoot a young delinquent that was trying to run over them with his vehicle. Same story. He was such a "good kid" and shouldn't have to be killed! BS!! Teach your damn kids to respect authority and then maybe these things wouldn't happen. Rant off!

Link t original story.

We have the same up here, I wonder where the parents of these good kids are when they point guns at Police? I also wonder why a 17 year old had a gun unsupervised and shooting in the air?

One of the officers i know well went to a call at a local high school man with a gun. It was 12 year old with someone's Glock. Bernie didn't fire and the kid lived. I would not want to make that kind of decision.

They had a domestic vilence call a few years ago and the family wanted the man arrested, he came at the cops with a knife the female officer fled and the male officer shot and killed the man. The family went crazy in the paper saying he was a good man and no one needed to be shot, the officer was cleared no thanks to his partner, who took early retirement and has been on Oprah and helps kids.

You point a weapon at a LEO, you get shot.
I wasn't there, and I am NOT going to second guess the officer.

As others have asked, if this kid was such a good boy, what in the hell was he doing shooting in the air and pointing a gun at a cop?

The Uhurus will eventually get the thugs worked up enough to start rioting. The good news is that they'll riot and burn down sections of their own hood. Sorta like a good cleansing. South St. Pete has always been the suckhole of Pinellas county.

Same thing has been going on here in Charlotte lately. Why, we even had the wonderful and esteemed Rev. Al Sharpton here last week to help bring the situation to the forefront. Mad Cause it had only been 2 days since the news ran a story on it. Roll Eyes

I get so tired of reading news articles or watching TV and hearing family/friends of a dead person describing what a great person they were; never in trouble; wouldn't hurt a thing; great family person; police overreacted; just a big misunderstanding; etc.

I wish for once someone would step up and tell the truth: "Yeah, he was a piece of work. He was an alcoholic and drug dealer; beat his wife/kids; flunked out of school; in/out of jail; was a racist; hated cops; deserved what he got".

It's amazing how only the good people in society seem to become the victims and all the bad people are still going strong.
