Agree that the German's took a heavy troop and financial loss in WWI, but none of the fighting was on their soil.

They also did a masterful job of hiding the true devastation from they people through the press control and propaganda between the wars.

I just finished 'The Guns of August'... a great book about the mindset of the major players at the beginning of WWI (Germany, France, England, Russia and the US). A lot of folks were caught 'with their pants' down when Germany made it's first invasion push into Belgium in August 1914.

If it hadn't been for Hitler's drug use they probably would have.

IMO, what sealed Hitler's and Germany's fate was the invasion of Russia. It was THE big mistake of Nazi Germany that cost them everything. If you can prove that Hitler's drug use caused him to make that decision, then I would agree with you.

My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.

Do you think any sane person would be fighting on that many fronts? And who in their right mind would attack Russia in the Winter? If his mind wasn't burnt out on drugs then there must have been something else going on mentally to cause him to do that.

When I read the article, I couldn’t imagine how this happened accidentally. I hope the people shot make a full recovery and those responsible are held accountable.

How could live ammo be allowed in the area? No inspection?

How can any soldier not know the difference between live ammo and blanks?

Wouldn’t you notice when people started to drop?

15 of the 16 hit were civilians, oops!

I guess shooting the women and children hostages sends a strong message to the terrorists.
