John Fugate is apparently asking for quarter. He sent an email to a forum member last night, which was then forwarded to me. I don't have a copy of that email on the PC I'm on right now, but essentially, in it he pledges to stay away from the Classifieds section of the forum and asks for a "truce". I'll have more to say about this later today, but let's just say that although I believe he wants a "truce" since he's getting pounded, I have a very hard time believing that he and his brother will now simply vanish from here like smoke.

Regardless of whatever decision I may come to on this in the next couple of days, I am going to take this opportunity to remind John and his brother that I told them this would happen.
From my initial public remarks on this matter, from page 3 of this thread:

quote:
I think John is going to find out that his little email campaign was the worst decision he made in his persistent efforts here.

And it didn't take long, did it, John and Matt?

If anyone is sceptical of my claim about this email that was sent, it can be published here in the forum. If the member to whom it was sent wants to step forward and confirm my remarks, please feel free to do so.

Hey Boss Man, he's shown utter contempt for personal ethics, the law and anyone else other than himself & his wallet.

My persnoal feelings are to use what ever legal means available to pound this ass wipe into the sand till he is put out of business.

The good people on this forum have "turned their cheeks" once too often.

I had a science teacher in high school who said, "No sympathy for self-inflicted pain."

In this rare case, I won't forgive, and I won't forget. Cry all you want, Mr. Fugate.

Para, yes that e-mail was sent to me(I fowarded it to you), and you have my permission to publish it. I would do so myself, but I'm a little behind the times regarding how to do that.
I have sold 2 guns to Fugate in the last 6 months or so via GB. I told him that I wished that he had not bid on the guns, and that I preferred someone who was not going to flip the firearms get them. I have since blocked him as a bidder on any firearm that I sell via GB.
Please John Fugate,I know you're reading this, no more e-mails to me. Thank you.

I told him he called down the whirlwind, and now they're reaping it. You don't go pissing off dozens of members of a forum like this without getting your world rocked a bit. Not a bright move, not at all.

My past experience with people like this is that they are dishonest and greedy. So what they do is not log in all the firearms that they come in contact with and therefore end up not paying taxes on some of their profits.

In the end the ATF and IRS will have a field day when they are caught. People like Fugate gives a bad name to all gun owners. IMHO

I was just cruising GB and found a S&W that I wouldn't mind having. Low & behold, it is a No-Reserve style auction being sold by one of our more renowned members here.

Guess who the current high-bidder is?
Then I looked at the sellers' "other auctions",
of which, I see the same handle as the top-bidder.
Upon doing a little more research, it appears the bidder uses one account to "buy" and another account to "sell"?

Business is business, so I guess money talks & nobody walks?

I wonder if he'll exclude this bidder at some point?

I have never dealt either way with the bidder that this thread refers to.
While I read, he seems to be one of a few, who simply 'runs it in the ground'....he is not alone. A few others have been booted here for the same practices. He and the others just got caught....and thus caught...they show their true colors.
I never am concerned if the guy I buy from has turned a profit, I buy if it's what I want at a price I can live with and don't look back.
But I do have a policy of not selling (I seldom sell at all) to a flipper.
I would only ignore my policy, if I had to in order to keep my house heated or lighted or my kids/family alive. The problem is nobody admits up-front, that they are going to flip it. Only a few run it in the ground enough to be identified.

How'd I get over-the-hill and never reached the top?

Now thats right up my alley. Are there signs/indications you should watch for to determine a bad seller from a good?

Check the feedback and look very closely at the photos. Also look at the shipping fees. Some people pad the shipping. Finally, if it looks and sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
