How many forum members who have seen "There Will Be Blood" think Mr. Fugate operates with the same ethics as the Daniel Day Lewis oil baron character in the movie? Is there nothing Mr. Fugate will not do to get his hands on low cost guns and, after adjusting the condition of the gun, sell them at sinful prices?

Mr. Fugate (using his alter-ego lastbidder) is busy at work harvesting at GB:
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=98085659 He has 330 feedbacks, which means he has bought 330 guns from GB to resell. |

animalmother (your alter-ego) He paid the "Buy It Now" price of $1250. By no means is that a "steal" for that gun. He's a gun dealer. Gun dealers buy and sell guns. Please point out to me why you felt the need to let people know that a gun dealer is paying somebody's asking price for a gun that he may or may not choose to sell. Bashing people if they do something wrong is one thing, but do we really need an announcement every time the Fugates legitimately buy a gun on GB? It just looks very petty. Two scenarios and ways to look at this: IF a dealer (any dealer) is a legitimate and honest dealer that buys and resells firearms to make a profit- even a large one if he can get it- no problem. However, if a dealer takes firearms and "enhances" them to a state that they weren't before and passes them off as like new when people can prove that they aren't...I think a person does a disservice when he doesn't let others in his hobby know about it. Also, if you put a gun on this board, an auction site, or even in a store- anyone can "draw attention" to it. I don't know what you call that- but I'm certain that there is a technical term for it. Anyway- if you do business online- you can and will get "tracked" either by the folks you do business with, or by the "watchdogs." I honestly think this is a good lesson to those out there that want to "carpetbag" in the auctions. Whether you are religious or not, customer or dealer, the moral to this story is: "Your sins will find you out!" _______________________________________________________ Barney- "Nip it, nip it, nip it!!!" Well, Andy, that isn't the case with the gun in question. It's an absolutely New In Box 27-2. Hard to enhance that. Be a Liberal: Rewrite the past, lie about the present, and offer nothing for the future. |

Please clarify G.
I'm new relatively new here. (love it btw). But I thought I saw a slight cylinder ring. Would that be just from people handling it roughly? To me NIB means just that. But I've only ever bought a couple of guns sold NIB. All my guns have turn rings. (heck, I just can't stop shootin' the little buggers Not looking to join the fray, just want some info. thanks Monty All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. > Edmund Burke |

Here's the seller's description of the gun... Smith & Wesson 27-2 3.5" bbl. NIB, unfired in display case with original shipping box! All manuals, tools and brochures also present! Virtually perfect and impossible to upgrade! Apparently, the turn line didn't bother Mr. Fugate. Be a Liberal: Rewrite the past, lie about the present, and offer nothing for the future. |

Well, G-Mac, are you the president of the Fugate Fan Club or just a good friend of Mr. Fugate? Perhaps you can be made the Defender of the Fugates.
I agree that the $1250 he paid for the gun is no steal. I posted this for several reasons. First, to show that he has purchased 330 guns on GB. Second, to allow forum members to look at his feedback and see what he bought. Most of the guns he buys he gets for a very good price. I have seen used guns he bought cheap as lastbidder get re-listed at upgraded conditions and sky-high prices. As many other forum members have noticed, Mr. Fugate seems to up the condition of many of the guns he buys. "He's a gun dealer. Gun dealers buy and sell guns." Yes, this is true, but it is his ethics. No one has a problem with someone making money off selling guns. However, when you use the tactics he has used (please read the whole thread for many examples), you cross the line. "Please point out to me why you felt the need to let people know that a gun dealer is paying somebody's asking price for a gun that he may or may not choose to sell." Well, sir, allow me to retort and ask you why you feel the need to defend Mr. Fugate and question my right to post on this page. If you didn't like my post, then ignore it. Seems like many other forum members found some use in it. "Bashing people if they do something wrong is one thing, but do we really need an announcement every time the Fugates legitimately buy a gun on GB?" Tell us, G-Mac, how many guns have you bought from Mr. Fugate? |

animalmother,
For the record: 1) I do not know the Fugates. Were it not for this forum, and the e-mailing they did to promote their business, I might never have known that they existed. 2) I have bought no guns from the Fugates. 3) I have sold no guns to the Fugates. 4) I have nothing personally against them, because I have no experience from which to draw my own conclusion. I've heard some very good things about them (in e-mail form from other forum members who are satisfied customers of theirs) and bad things (in this topic thread). My only reason for commenting on your post was because I think it's just plain silly to report every move they make...especially when, as in the auction you highlighted, they did NOTHING WRONG. If you've got some juicy tid-bit about how they bought a mint, original, Registered Magnum, with original box and all accessories, from a grieving widow for fifty bucks...LET'S HEAR IT! Otherwise, wasting time tracking their every online auction move, then posting links to legitimate auction purchases...WHERE THEY PAID TOP DOLLAR...really doesn't mean much, now does it? They paid $1250 for that 27-2. I'd bet a hundred dollars to a dime that you wouldn't have given $800 for it if it was hand-delivered to your house. NOTHING WRONG? Well, I for one don't like them sending unsolicited emails (SPAM) to my S&W Forum listed email address for the sole purpose of furthering their commercial business. That's not the purpose of this privately-owned forum, as I understand it. |
