Whew!!!!!!!!!!!!
The last auction I bid on finally out bid me-THANK GOD!!!
Do any of you ever sit in front of the computer drinking and then the next morning realize that it might not really be a good idea to have 3 bids working-even though they are all fairly low but over reserve?? The last one, I sweated out for 5 days!! Crap-If I'd have won all of them I would'a had to come up with close to $1900!
(Course I would have three neat guns-but it's tough to justify a stainless Marlin guide gun, a 8 3/8 nickle 27 and a Super Alaskan Redhawk all at once Roll Eyes)
Note to self-NO BWD!!

Booze has a similar effect while out in a tavern evaluating a companion for the evening...

Caj,
Been there, done that, have the scars.
Bid almost $4500. a couple years ago on an auction I new I would NEVER win. Praying for three days did no good. I had to come up with the dough. The seller was sympathetic, to a point. I made good on the deal and it took me @ four years to recoup my money but I did make a small profit.

Lesson semi-learned, at least as far as safe queens are concerned. Big Grin

Drinking+Bidding=PAIN!! Been there, done that! Frowner My best friend got a "really good deal" on an old 9mm Combat Commander while too intoxicated to see the photos on GB well enough to realize that it was a genuine beater, I mean, UUUUUGGGGLEEEEEEE!!! What he paid should have bought about 4 like it. Like the man he is, he bucked up, paid, and learned a lesson. I've considered a breathalyzer interlock on my keyboard! Big Grin

Remember when your friends would be "drunk and dialing" and you'd get calls in the middle of the night:

"Love ya, man!!! You gotta get down here! It's, like awesome, man!!!"

Well, I have a pal who sits in front of his computer, drink in hand, and bids on stuff--he bought a 10K boat, a 2002 GEO Tracker, a pair of engraved, commemorative Marlin 45-70s, a couple of high-end Randall knives, a Winchester 94, etc., etc., etc.

I think it's fun to watch--as long as it ain't me!!

Time your auctions so there is less than 24 hours remaining around 2200 hours on a Friday night-us drunks tend to react when we think we're about to miss out on a deal Big Grin

I learned long ago --- NO booze when typing on a forum or NO booze when visiting an auction online. Booze, for me, is the 'mother's milk' of rationalizing my dire need for something or the ease in paying.

Been there and done that. I have had to figure out how to explain the new gun a few times. You'd think I would learn at some point. Roll Eyes

Ah Caje,

Just call Charlie S. to see if he knows of a few customers and you can bid on a lot more stuff.
$1900 really isn't that much money.

It don't just happen on auction sites!
It happened to me on this site.
After asking about 1911 pistols ,someone e-mailed me saying they had one to get rid of.
So he named a price and I told him I'd take it.
He didn't get back to me for a couple of days so I thought he changed his mind(no big deal)
So in the meantime sombody else lists a 2nd model hand ejector in the classifieds for a good price THEN LOWERS IT!!!!
So I tell him if he still has it I would take it.(done deal)
Then that night the guy with the 1911 calls and wants to finnish the deal I e-mailed him about me wanting his gun.
Sooooooooo, to make a long story short I got both guns for good deals.
I just didn't plan on spending that money at the time.
