Someone posted this on another site. The guns were mostly new. The country was getting new HK weapons and HK wanted the trades destroyed. At least that was how the story went. Joe

In one of the photos a soldier is holding what appears to be a 1911 in his hand. Maybe it's just me but the expression on his face looks like he might "rescue" this one.

I could care less about the Makarovs and TTs. Grinding up the Colts was a crime against history.

My understanding is that any supplier of small arms there would have to stipulate the destruction of old stock. HK, SIG, Glock. It doesn't matter, they were going to trash those old pistols.

As alluded to above, I suspect in the event that most of the operative, valuable items were rescued prior to the photography and the eastern bloc junk and inoperative units were destroyed for show.
