I know this is SW Forum, but I really trust you all!

I bought a Taurus 24/7 9mm (4 inch barrel) and took to the range today for its initial shooting trial. I chose this because I liked how the Mill. Pro 9mm shot. I bought it for the wife for HD or SHTF. She can shoot the .40cal, but at least this 9mm, she wont have to think twice about the recoil.

I shot 2 hundred rounds (all WWB) and no FTE, FTF, or any other issues. Shot well- perfectly at 7-10 yrds. 10 rounds all center mass; mozabique, no problem with center mass and head shots.

I did notice however, sparks, at time of fire. Yes- sparks! What I mean by this, when the round fired, a spark would fly out with the spent case when the slide went back and the round ejected. It was not muzzle flash. The spark would fly out right before the spent case would eject. I noticed this in the early rounds (prior to hitting the 50th round or so)

Im a newbee when it comes to the finer points of shooting; but I have shot enough to know that I have never seen sparks; other then the muzzle flash. Thats a flash and is pretty bright. But these were sparks. I didnt notice them anymore; as I got closer to reaching a hundred rounds. I also tried Magtech rounds. Actually come to think of it, the sparks I saw was when I shot the Magtech rounds and as I shot more WWB, the sparks seemed to get less. It wasn't like 4th of July or anything like that. It was just one spark or so when the round would go off.

Whats the deal?

or is this something from X-files.

my sigma did the same thing for the first few rounds of wwb(also 9mm). may be the wwb brass on a fresh extracor?? as the extractor gets dirty, not a fresh metal contact??
no ftf or fte, 900 rounds so far

Brass is a non-ferrous metal, and can't spark. Is it possible this is a a spark from metal parts of the gun? I have never seen this, but I don't own any Taurus's.

It's not unusual to have flakes of unburned gunpowder exit the barrel and on occassion the ejection ports of autos; but actual "sparks" is a phenomenom I as of yet haven't heard of.

I'm with Moon on this one.
One of my favorite 200 grain LSWC .45ACP softball loads even from time to time, will put out a spark while cycling. Trouble is, everything is happening so fast that it's easy to mistake one spark source for another. Of course, all of those brand spankin' new 90 degree edges on the slide and locking block in the chamber area, may be "fire fitting" themselves as well? Look in those areas when doing your cleaning to see if the finish is buffed on the ejection port opening on the slide. And along the locking areas of the chamber. All that stuff needs to nestle in at it's own pace.

I knew some of you SW folks would have some info for me on this. Thanks for all the responses so far. Im going to clean it in a bit and will look for some signs. Guess my next question is, is this normal and once the finer edges of the chamber gets more use, it will go away? Or is this something that I have to utilize the life time warranty and send back to Taurus? I do remember that the sparks were noticed within the first 50 rounds or so and then after that, I didnt seem to notice too much or just got used to it. But it seemed there werent sparks anymore or again I just didnt notice. My attention were all of the center mass placements that were occurring. To the point where 10 rounds actually shot out the "x" area of the silohuette.
