I was finally able to get details from the Scottsdale Gun Club on pricing for a group shoot. Sorry for the delay on this but I was on unexpected business travel and unable to follow up. Basically the sky is the limit and they are willing to do anything that we would like, but it does have a price attached.

What I would like to recommend since this is the first time that we have done this is to keep planning and costs to a minimum. With any luck this may grow and become a regular event and we can become more ambitious in our planning for future events. I'm thinking that we plan this for mid-day on a Saturday, possibly July 26th or August 2nd. That would allow forum members outside the valley travel time to get here.

I am a member there and I do get member pricing. I can rent out their small conference room for $20.00/hour and this would give us space away from everyone else. We'd basically have a private room that would could BS in and share out Smiths with other forum members. We could also order in food or have a lunch catered. I have no problem renting the room for the forum members.

They have no problem reserving a lanes together for us. I know that we had a couple of other forum members respond back to a previous post that they were members as well. SGC members could reserve our lanes together in advance and the other forum members could use them as well.

Range time is free to members and $16.50/hour to non-members. I can bring guests in for free and would be willing to do so for one guest. I have a feeling other SGC members would as well. I just do not want to abuse our club privileges by having SGC members bringing multiple guests for free.

Please let me know your thoughts and we'll see if we can get this rolling. SGC members please respond and let me know if you're willing to participate.

The club is more than willing to work with us. They are willing to rent their entire tactical bay (8 lanes) for our exclusive use. They're also willing to cut us a deal on full auto rentals. I think this would be great to do in the future if we have a strong enough following to make it a regular event and support the costs.

PS. The next Smith & Wesson Days at the club are November 22nd and 23rd.

Cool, thanks for following up on this. The cost certainly seems quite reasonable, much more so than I thought it might be Smiler

This sounds like it would be a good "first run" get together and being inside we don't have to wait until November. The dates mentioned would be fine with me. I'm not a member but would be willing to chip in for a couple of hours rental for a shooting lane and/or the conference room.

What does everyone else think?

Gents, I'm sorry that I haven't weighed in on any of location suggestions or the voting, but I'd like to be counted in, Scottsdale is fine with me on any of the suggested dates...if something comes up then, I'll just deal with it. Count me in on a financial donation to help with whatever costs we need to handle. I'd much rather spend a bit on a venture like this than throw it away at the upcoming Gun Show....I mean seriously, how much Jerky can one man eat? Big Grin This sounds like a great plan; start fairly basic and maybe this will grow. If it goes well, we might be able to do something when it's cooler and perhaps the gas prices might drop a bit. Figure on a Blackcloud sighting!

Those dates work for me, as of now, and I'd like to participate, and would be happy to chip in on the costs. Thanks for taking time to organize this. Let us know the consensus...

I am off on the 26th and working on the 2nd. Hell of a thing to know your schedule that far in advance. As a member at SGC I can also use one guest pass for a fellow forum member to save them the lane cost of $15. I can also chip in to cover the meeting room. Hey, if RufusG can make it all the way from Pa. I am sure some of the rest of you can make it down the 10 & 17. Big Grin I will also cover at least two other forum members lane fees. Let me know if I can help you with this. Sorry guys, but I will have to be showing off my new Kimber 1911 Ultra. It is a tack driver!!

Guys
I have been thinking about joining you all for the day. I am coming out that way on a fast vacation to see the wife's elderly aunt and uncle in Tuscon so it could work.
I'll let ya'll know a little closer to the date.

I'm not sure about my schedule - or why I even have one - but I will try and make it, despite the drive between TUC and PHX being among the TOP 10 boring drives in the US.

Sounds like fun...

I was in on the beginning of this discussion but have been out of touch due to this thing called "life" and some of the things that happen during it. Anyway, I live in Scottsdale and this sounds great. I will be out of town on the 26th, not sure about the 2nd yet.
2000Z-71, thanks for taking the time to check into this. Even if I am unable to make it this time, perhaps it will be successful enough to have a repeat event at a later date.
On a side note, I took my CCW at SGC a couple of years ago. Then they had a simulator room which was kind of cool. Don't know if it's still there or not, but good practice for "what if" situations. when I know whether I can make it or not will let you know. If/when I do, I'm fine with pitching in on costs.

Thanks

Jim
