2000Z, when you get the details, especially what you need $$$-wise, let us know. You can contact me by e-mail if you'd like, but you can count me in to help. I'm certain my wife will come along too if you're looking for numbers.

WooHoo!
The 2nd works for me. My Little Woman will be coming as well. And as Blackcloud2 says, let us know what we need to cough up for expenses. Looking forward to meeting all of you!

I forgot to add this to my post. You guys provided a name and number for a local guy who is the "go to" guy for Smiths. I failed to write that information down. Can someone please post that again?
Thanks in advance.

Everyone,

I think it's great that we have this much interest. Since this is our first time trying this, I'm thinking we keep it fairly informal. If this proves successful, in the future we could make it a regular event and be more elaborate with our planning.

I've got the small conference reserved for our exclusive use from 12:00-3:00PM on Saturday, August 2nd. It will be a good place for us to socialize and BS. We will have at least 3 lanes reserved together for our use. If we have a definate head count and the need, we get additional lanes reservered.

Website for the club:

http://www.scottsdalegunclub.com/

There's a lot of information included on their website. The club is located close to Loop 101 and Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard. Costs for non-member is $15.00/hour range time. There is also a short (5 minute?) safety video that first time visitors must watch before heading out onto the range.

I am a member and can be guests in for free. I will offer to do this for one forum member. I would ask other members of the club to limit themselves to one guest as well so we are not taking advantage of the club. The club also offers firearms rentals including Class III fully auto for anyone who may be interested.

I'm going to ask the mods if we can make this a "sticky" in the Lounge that we can update with details as the date gets closer.

Looking forward to it!

Jim,

What do you mean by a "go to" guy for Smiths? Bear Arms at Scottsdale and Shea does have a used section and I've gotten some nice pre-lock Smiths there in the past. Nelson Ford who does business as "The Gunsmith, Inc." does a pretty good job at tuning a Smith's action. Scottsdale Gun Club usually has a pretty good selection of new Smiths.

I've done business with Bear Arms for several years. Nelson Ford has also done a little bit of work for me in the past and does a great job. This gentleman's name, I think was Dave, and he is a collector/dealer? I'll have to try to perform a search and see if I can find the thread again.

Bought my 625 from SGC a couple of years ago.
I found the info I was looking for. The search tool is great when one applies themselves.
Dave at Canyon State Firearms is the guy.

This is Great! Big Grin My wife and I are planning to
attend. As far as Nelson ford, I would highly recomend him. He has worked on a couple of our firearms.

Thanks for all the work on this. I should be there unless some major event happens, causing a need for me to work.

Update:

Sabre has offered his help in organizing and will be bringing a cooler for drinks and refreshments that we can enjoy at the club. We will have a donation jar for anyone who cares to contribute. I'm going to make the suggestion that after we wrap up at the club, we reconvene at the Skeptikal Chemyst (it's an Irish pub across the road from the club) for a point or two afterwards.

So now that we have a time and a place, we can start talking about the important stuff, who's bringing what to shoot and show off?

Okay, now we're talking! First off though, thanks for you guys all pulling this together, I know some of the other non-AZ guys are wishing us a good outing! As to what I'm bringing, well, I think I'll bring a few S&W's that I have and ammo for each caliber, which I'll gladly offer up for anyone interested to shoot. My current inventory goes from several J's, a few K's and one N frame. Whether to show or shoot, I'll bring 'em. As for the Skeptikal Chemyst, I'm not Irish, but I am a poor speller, so I think I still qualify and will try to make that too! Big Grin

Well, I have to admit, my S&W "collection" is limited to four pieces, of which I guess I'll bring three. A 625-8, Model 10-7 and 2 1/2" 686-4. I'd really like to enhance my stable with a K22 or Model 17.
