Buckbeans;

1.I'll bring my digital camera and try and take some pics.

2. Get off the 101 North at Raintree and go west, then turn right at Northsight and look for an auto parts store (can't remember the name), and a KO's restaurant/bar on the left. Turn left between them and you'll see the gun club tucked in behind and to the right. It's to the south of the Scottsdale BMW motorcycle dealership.

3. There's the Desert Ridge Mall up the 101 if you go past the Raintree exit. You have to go a 5 or 6 miles to the Tatum exit and then go north about 2/10 mile, you'll see it on the right.

I'm still cogitating on what to bring. Is it safe to say that this is more of a revolver group than a semiauto group?

I've heard that Smith makes autoloaders, but I've never actually seen one... Smiler I think we all have a thing for Smith revolvers but bring whatever you want. The main point is to have fun and maybe put a few faces to the forum names.

Buckbeans,

With the weekend forecast of 110+ degrees here, spending the day at an outdoor mall like Desert Ridge may not make for a happy wife. Scottsdale Fashion Place is not far away on Scottsdale Road and Camelback. It's a large high end indoor mall. However it may not make for a happy credit card balance...

Thanks 20000z
I was wondering how we are going to handle shooting the guns. Is it kosher to let someone else shoot my reloads or do we require factory?
Do have enough tables to put our stuff on or do we bring our own folding tables and chairs?

buckbeans,

There should be sufficient chairs & tables in the meeting room. Due to the club rules, we will need to keep our guns cased when not on the range.

As for reloads, I'm bringing several hundred rounds of mine for folks to shoot in the guns I'm bringing. I figure its my reloads in my guns, so why would there be a problem Big Grin

My best guess looks to be 10 to 15 who are planning to attend Smiler

Right now we have 9 definates and 2 maybes. The conference room does have a large table and chairs and the club is bringing in extra chairs.

We should have 3 lanes next to each other out on the line. All handling of firearms will have to be done on the line. This may change if we have future events there. The club is willing to allow us to handle firearms in the conference room provided a club employee is their to supervise. However, we would have to pay for the employees time. With this being the first time we've tried to do something like this, we tried to keep our expenses to a minimum.

As far as reloads, I'm bring a few hundred rounds for the guns I'm bringing. The club has no regulations against the use of reloads. They do require if using one of their rental firearms that you purchase ammunition from them, this includes the full auto rentals as well.

Hope this answers all of the questions. You can also check out their website:

When I get there, should I ask for the Smith-Wesson forum or the small conference room?

I haven't taken inventory of my ammunition supply (recent decision to attend), but I may be short on the calibers that I plan to bring. I haven't set up my reloader yet, so I may have to purchase some there. The website shows their ammunition prices; certain calibers seem reasonably priced, while others are expensive. They also list some ammunition prices of $25,000.00 (box unit price?) and I imagine those are the anti-werewolf/anti-vampire sterling silver versions.

Looking forward to meeting the rest of you.

I'm sorry if I don't understand this 100%.
We can't look at anyone's guns unless we are on the firing line ?
There will only be 3 lanes on the firing line ?
Is there more than one person allowed per lane, or will we not allowed to view others guns at all ?
Sorry, I'm just trying to find out what's all going to be happening or what will be allowed to happen.
Thanks, I hope these questions make sense.

Jeff,

Guns have to be holstered or cased unless you are on the firing line. Having more than one person in a lane is acceptable. We should have 3 lanes next to each other on the line. Viewing each others guns is fine as long as it is done on the firing line.

It's probably not the ideal situation, but I totally understand the club's position on this. Like I said earlier, if we can make this a regular event, we can pay to have a club employee in the conference room with us and we'll be able to handle guns in there.

Hope this all makes sense.

It does make perfect sense for safety reasons, and thanks for clearing this up for me.
I personally was not going for the shoot, but more for the learning and viewing of other guys guns. I love wheel guns and have shot all kinds and calibers.
Please don't get me wrong, I was bringing stuff to shoot, but wanted it to be more of a learning thing for me. I enjoy seeing guns I don't know about and learning things about those guns. What to look for when I'm out buying something for my own collection. Books can only teach you so much. It's the hands on stuff that's priceless. Learning from you guys personally. Nobody knows everything, but some may know a lot about a specific model if you know what I mean.
Sitting on the firing line trying to view and talk to people about their guns is tough to do.
I wish I had a range at my home, I'd invite you guys over and I'd even supply the Bratts and drinks. (Beer & hard stuff available after the shoot).
I would love to meet all of you some time and see your collections or even parts of your collections.
I hope I'm not offending anyone by what I said.
It's a great thing you guys are putting together.
I'm going to pass this time around and please keep me in mind for the next round up.
Have fun, I hope it all goes well.
