I agree with Jeff and is why I was a "tentative", which has now changed to a "no show". I guess I am spoiled in that I shoot outdoors exclusively and absolutely hate to shoot at indoor ranges. The only reason I was going to come was to meet the folks on this board and view and show some S&Ws. I probably would not have shot at all, but rather just "smoke and joke" with all the forum members. While the conference room will be great to do this in, we would be limited in showing/viewing our S&Ws in this venue. I do not mean AT ALL to be a "wet blanket" for this event, and I know all my fellow AZans will have a great time, but for me to drive the 200 miles or so to Phoenix just doesn't work for me.

On the flip side, if anyone wants to ever come to the "west coast of AZ" and shoot outdoors, at ranges up to 1.5 miles (with a Barrett M82 Wink) and not even SEE another person the entire time, let alone another person shooting; then retire back to my abode where we can shoot pool, throw darts, play slots, and draw beer from the kegerator, then I offer up my hospitality for the next "go round" of an AZ meet/shoot for forum members.

I hope you all have a fantastic time, and I will surely miss the fellowship. Stay safe!!

Dad, I'm so glad you've come back into my life....I'll be there tomorrow and I don't plan to leave soon! Big Grin Hey boss, just joshing, but the offer does sound like fun! I completely understand the drive and the awkwardness of the gun viewing, but I want to meet you guys. I'm not that big of a shooter anymore and most of you have far superior exhibits, so I'm in the "smoke and joke" crowd myself, I'm just a lot closer geographically! Maybe next time the rules will be looser or maybe we can head out your way west. I was born in Yuma, my dad's still down that way and I've swapped a couple of e-mails with Radar Bill, so I know the westerly route! Take care sir!

Given the choice I think I would have preferred a no shooting / show & tell meet as well. I discussed the possibility with Frank/2000Z-71 of having a club employee present but it was just too costly at this point.

For our first meet I think we're doing pretty good - the only way to find out what will work is to jump on in and give it a try. After tomorrow we'll have some ideas and a much better feel for how to go about organizing a meet like this.

Hopefully we can do this on a regular basis, once or twice a year perhaps. We can try different venues and activities (showing, shooting, etc.) as we progress. As it stands I think we owe Frank a round of applause for taking the plunge and getting this organized.

I look forward to meeting all who are attending tomorrow, and to those that can't make it we'll catch up with you next time Wink

Bill

PS - Be careful Ken, an offer like that might get you a bunch of overweight, balding S&W nuts hanging around drinking all your beer and shooting up the place (yes, I resemble that remark) Razzer

Yeah, besides, its too dang hot to have an outdoor shoot/show & tell at this time of year. When I do go shooting, its early in the morning and I'm usually done by 9:00am. Last weekend though the monsoons were present and we had a nice cloud cover enabling us to stay out shooting till noon! Trouble was there was thunder & lightning like right ontop of us! A bit nerve-wraking, but it didn't scare us off. Wink

I agree sabre, this first meeting seems to be shaping up to have a great turn-out. I know you guys will enjoy it.
