I'm down at mt in-laws for the weekend and without my SCSW. My father-in-law pulled out what I think may be a pre Model 10. It's a 6 shot k-frame, .38 Special, matte blue finish, square butt, checked magna grips, 2" barrel with a half moon shaped fixed front site. The marking on he left side of the barrel is .38 Spl Ctg.

I know limited description, but any da what it may be?

If it has fixed sights then it is a pre-10.
