I suspect there will be some of you truly fired up when you read this. And I think the last line in the article is prophetic.

Be safe.

Isn't there anyway to PUNISH these idiots? At the least bar them from holding any public office.

There doesn't have to be any suits filed to be held in contempt of court and that's just what these jackasses are guilty of!

Legal history is full of overturned laws, enacted to circumvent court rulings. Courts don't take lightly to clumsy attempts to infringe on freedoms. Well, some courts don't, anyway.

From the link provided at the beginning:

Guns would have be be kept unloaded except for "immediate self-defense".

So I assume the D.C. authorities will set up a warning system that tells a citizen a few minutes in advance when it is time load the defense weapon. I could live with that... not.

WTF??? Does the poor resident trying to defend himself/herself have to ask the nefarious character to "wait just a minute" until you stab/rob/rape/break into my house while I load my weapon.

You would think that after 16 year in Law Enforcement I wouldn't be surprised by much, but these aholes take the cake.

A new law proposed by Council member Phil Mendelson would allow for gun ownership but would still require trigger locks. Guns would have be be kept unloaded except for "immediate self-defense." "immediate self-defense."

So I guess you would need to schedule when you might need the gun.

It is what it is.

I'm not going to look for it, but I think Justice Scalia was guite clear on that point -- ya don't have to keep them unloaded, disassembled or locking devices on them.

I have dealt with the DC government on behalf of clients numerous times. They are clueless and likely to enact anything and use their "crackerjack legal staff" to litigate again, but the worse their ordinances are, the more SCOTUS victories that we will get.
