I know that it would be a stretch for Smith and Wesson, but I think it would be nice for someone to create a piece that fit the hole and space left if you choose to remove the dreaded IL. (Not trying to get on anyones nerves by bringing the subject up). I would think this would be pretty simple for one of the many after market part makers. On the other hand I don't know if they would run into any type of legal problems between them and S&W or otherwise.

Don't know why they would. Plugs that look like screws are being made to replace the cross-bolt safeties on Marlin lever actions. Safeties are completely removed and fitted with the screw. They work well too.

i think it would be cool if a plug was made just for cosmetic reasons that had a hex head on it (or whatever *agon the keyhole is). it just pushed into the lock and had a flat end on it that was flush with the side of the gun. if you wanted to disassemble the lock, just remove the flag and spring but leave the rest of it there covered with the plug...

I believe that would be a good seller, someone would make a few bucks off that I think.

Maybe that is part of the good news Parabellum enticed us with a few days ago?

We take out that crap, put in a part that fits the void!! Man, that would be GREAT!!

That is a good idea. Only problem is if there is enough side wall thickness to tap and hold it under recoil concussion? I guess Loctite would help.

My idea was to make a slightly oversize cylinder release latch that covered it. hadn't actually sat down to doodle a design that achieved that without looking clumsy, but I bet it could be done. I would call the product "Hole Shot" (tm) and then sell it with instructions on how to file the flag off.
