Don't know why they would. Plugs that look like screws are being made to replace the cross-bolt safeties on Marlin lever actions. Safeties are completely removed and fitted with the screw. They work well too.

That is a good idea. Only problem is if there is enough side wall thickness to tap and hold it under recoil concussion? I guess Loctite would help. My idea was to make a slightly oversize cylinder release latch that covered it. hadn't actually sat down to doodle a design that achieved that without looking clumsy, but I bet it could be done. I would call the product "Hole Shot" (tm) and then sell it with instructions on how to file the flag off.
Physics 101: "Velocity" is speed and direction. Otherwise it's just "speed."
