I'm not sure if it would fit, but I'm betting it would. For small game, I think the .327 Mag would be an extremely useful handgun cartridge for everything on up to Yotes (coyotes) on out past 50 yards. And in a pinch, would probably be a downright decent home defense handgun.

Just because I'm different, I'd like to see it in a 5" non-lugged barrel, but I'd settle for a 4" full lug if that's what it would take.

You're "preaching to the choir" mister! I would love a 6" barreled 8-shot revolver in .327 Federal Magnum! Using either .32 S&W, or .32 S&W Long cartridges, it would be a hot ticket for a lot of garden pest shooting. Drop in some .32 H&R Magnum cartridges when the distances grow beyond 30 yards. And when the shots become "lengthy" (60 yards +) drop in some .327 Fed. Magnum loads!

It works for me!

That would be even better. Scandium L frame 8 shot in .327. Available in 2.5" 4" and 6" with 5 and 8 inch available as a custom option. Ooooh, now that would be one heckuva side arm.

Why all the need for hi-tech Scadmium and 8 shots?! I'd be happy with an updated, all blue steel (you know, like the blueing delivered 30 years ago) 6 shot K-32 in .327! Perhaps make it like the last rendition of the model 14 with the full underlug 6 inch barrel. That would be all I need for everything up to yotes!

Well, while I'm a big fan of blued steel, I like the scandium idea because the .327 wouldn't be a brute to handle in a light weight revolver, and the lighter weight of the scandium frame would make for a very nice carry gun. The 8 shots would be about the right size for the L frame, and would make for a good defensive revolver.

Your idea of a 6" 14 in .327 would be acceptable if they didn't go with the scandium idea; I'd take that in a heartbeat. In an all steel revolver, it would be a pussycat to shoot, and very nice.

Petermacmahon;

I just got an email from Bowen Classic Arms today giving a price of under $100 to rechamber my 16-4 to 327 Magnum. Hamilton Bowen indicated that all they need is the cylinder though I will probably send the whole cylinder and crane assembly. Let them lose the parts rather than me Razzer

I did not check on feasability or cost of converting earlier model 16s in 32 S&W Long. From what the email stated they have already done some K frame conversions but if not in 32 then it is a lot more expensive as much more work and parts are involved.

So many people have said that the .327 Federal Magnum was "an answer to a question that hadn't been asked." I disagree. The .327 Federal Magnum is the perfect solution for a modern version of the .32-20. This cartridge will perform quite nicely when chambered in a Marlin lever action rifle. While the .32-20 makes for a great short range deer and varmint rifle, the .327 Federal Magnum has a truly higher pressure limit. The first pressure limits for the cartridge that I had heard for the round was 45,000 psi. Now that's a spicy meatball! I sincerely hope that this round continues to grow in popularity, so that we can all enjoy another resurgence of the .32's popularity. It is long overdue.

Given the current prices that Model 16s are fetching, I'd have to advise you not to bother. But your right, a 16-4 would be exactly what I was asking for. Is the 16 a K or an L frame?

The 16-4 is a K frame with full underlug barrel.

Kevin, I had the same thought so I thought I would check here to see if anyone posted a thread on the subject. I see you are way ahead of me.
I was thinking a 586-L comp without the comp (not needed). A 3" barrel would be great!
Anyone at the Performance center or Camfour listening?

Charter Arms has a 2 1/2" barreled Patriot (fixed sights) on the market today. It is built on the Bulldog frame, and holds 6 rounds.
