I was think since S&W has made the M&P in 45 ACP , how about making it in 10MM . The reason for this was that I handled a EAA Witness with a polymer frame in 10MM yesterday and the grips was surprisingly smaller them my M&P40 .

S&W M&P 38Spl circa 1905
S&W 19-3 , 39-2 , 59 , 469
S&W 1006 , 1066 , 3913 , 4026 , 6906
S&W SW99 40 cal , M&P40

I would buy one in a heartbeat. It would be logical since the M&P is already available in every other caliber except the 10mm.

I'd take a good look at one - 10mm is a great caliber.

Count me in for sure on 10mm M&P. I love my 40 and 9mm Compact, but I would love the roar of a 10mm.

Thats the one I'm waiting for or at least someone to make a 10mm barrel for the 40 M&P.

Ishootblanks , the current M&P40 frame won't handle the 10mm cartridge due to its longer length along with the ejection port needing to be modified . But the the M&P45 frame should work ....

Will the M&P 40 slide fit the M&P 45 frame? If it does, you have to wonder if you could bore out a .40 barrel to 10mm depths and have a frankenstein 10mm m&p...

There will still be issues with the slide mass , which you would lose since there will be some milling needed to be done to the slide in the ejection port area . Again starting off with the M&P45 platform is MUCH better than trying to mod the M&P40

No matter what you do, there's still problems. The .45 breechface is too big for the 10mm and shrinking it would be a complicated operation.

A .40 slide would work better for this purpose, but it'd have to fit the .45 frame to accomodate the 10mm OALs.

The barrel might be a problem, too. I don't know if there's enough meat in the .40 chamber to ream to 10mm or if you could make a 10mm barrel that would fit the .40 slide.

Actually it would be easier to adjust your CNC programming specs for the breech face cut and a different extractor . Again 45 is easier to work with , got my info from a friend that works at OlyARms in the CNC section and they handle this all the the time when developing new pistol uppers dfor their ARs

Oh, you're absolutely right if you're talking about S&W "converting" M&Ps by actually building them in the factory vs. converting one. The bigger 45 slide is much more appropriate. I was thinking aftermarket conversions.

I know this is an older thread but, there are many people wanting a U.S. manufacturer to produce the next 10mm pistol. I am debating what I want for my next 10mm, the S&W 1006 is a superb gun the most accurate semi-auto but a tad heavy for CCW.

Besides I will not part with any of my Smith & Wesson guns.

If Smith & Wesson were to produce the M&P in 10mm I would buy one immediately, if they offered it with a conversion barrel cut for the 40S&W that would be a treasure for those who love to shoot and reload. The barrels should be conventional cut rifling to allow the use of all styles of bullets, chambers which fully support the cartridges and last but not least the gun should not fire out of battery.

So Smith & Wesson if your listening, we want a the 10mm version of the M&P, this should not be all that hard to produce in this format. Those who have 10mm guns want the full power and performance that the short 40S&W and the 45ACP lack.

It seems ever issue of this or that magazine is raving over the 45ACP or some variant, these people don’t fully understand the potential of what the new 10mm M&P would be!

Smith and Wesson make myself and others happy and proud to be owners of an “AMERICAN MADE” 10mm M&P! Thanks!
