I hate the fact that I traded my 1006 not to long ago. I will have another one down the road, but I want a 1076 FBI or Civilian or a 1066. If the M&P is made in 10mm I will buy one in a heart beat!!

I was at the range yesterday with my M&P .45 and my Glock 29 and I was definately thinking about what a great combination 10mm and M&P would be.

S&W? Are you listening?

Your right , the 1066 is ALOT handier for CCW Big Grin , but a M&P10 would be nicer still .

Wish they would build one something like the Tanfoglio Witness. The '06 and later models have a rail for lasers or light.

If S&W ever chambered the M&P for the 10mm cartridge, it would be "the rage of the decade" or perhaps even longer!

Pardon me for saying so, but S&W needs to simply "pull their head(s) out of their collective @$$es" and realize what a money maker they would have on their hands with just a little adjustment of the M&P machines that manufacture their pistols in .45 ACP!

But I'm sure that they don't want to hear this. Their minds are made up. We wouldn't want to confuse them with facts! Big Grin Roll Eyes

OK Smith & Wesson, I've ordered my Glock 29 10mm seeing how you didn't make the M&P in this very versitile 10mm cartridge. I have looked at many of the M&P guns and like that platform but I'm tired of waiting! Mad

But just incase your reading or listening, I still want the M&P 10mm! Call me when it's ready! Smiler

They've brought back the Model 610. Now we need to convince them to make a 1000 pistol run of the M&P in the caliber!

Rather than trash S&W for waiting to produce a 10mm how about a little understanding of business 101. S&W is selling their existing flavors of the M&P as fast as they can produce them. The .357 Sigs are already hard to come by. Why would they divert scarce production resources for a run with limited numbers of buyers when they can't keep up with current orders? Don't get me wrong, I want a 10mm M&P and a compact M&P10c. I just don't expect to see either for at least another year. In the mean time I'll settle for an M&P45c. Big Grin

At first I got this all wrong, a M&P 10 in 10mm Auto? Took out my 4" M&P handled it a little, flipped out the cylinder (well not flipped out, that is for TV appearnaces oinly!), compared the cylinder to the 100 Auto round... Yes, it might be doable, but in a 5 shot cylinder only....

Then.... an auto round in a cylinder....?

At last it dawned on me, yes! a glaring omission in the S&W line, why of course we need a 10mm Auto in the slightly larger frame of the M&P 45!!

Of course we need a 10mm Auto M&P, but in due course!!

I just thumbed through the current S&W catalog.

No 610 in there.

Anyone know when S&W stopped producing that model, I think my Standard catalogue (Supica&Nahas) is from 2002, so I have no other data...

Instead of a small production run, which will evaporate fairly quickly, I'd like to see this as a standard ctalog item, but that might be wishful thinking, maybe the market just isn't there?

Or maybe its a case of faulty marketing?

PIcturing this as a 10mm/40 revolver might do the trick, not every customer will immediately recognize they could get a revolver that *could* fire their standard auto ammo!!

ErikP: S&W will commit to a 500 piece run of both the 4" and 6.5" versions of the Model 610 through Lew Horton. There are already pictures of this revolver available online of this particular model.

The S&W Model 610 can fire both 10mm and .40 S&W ammunition. The .40 S&W requires the use of "moon clips" but the 10mm Auto ammunition headspaces upon the case mouth. You can remove the fired casings by picking them out of the cylinder with your fingernails.

Lew Horton is simply waiting for sufficient orders to make their request known to Smith & Wesson. S&W will then manufacture the revolvers. It is as simple as that.
