...a 5-shot M325 'Night Guard' on the L frame in .45ACP? Now THAT would be a CCW piece for revolver lovers!

Is the cylinder large enough? How much metal is there in the 5 shot L frame 44 Special cylinder? I have not seen one so do not know.
Remember that the 45 ACP cartridge runs considerably higher pressures than the 44 special, particularly in +P loadings. |

Unfortunately Dog,
The "L" is at (some would argue above) it's dimensional limits with a .429" in a .44 Special? I agree though, if it could be done, I'm in! That's why I often wondered if the L's wouldn't be better chambered for the .40S&W, using the ejection system the French rejected on their K frame contract guns? |

The problem is not the distance between the chambers with a 5 shot L-frame, the show stopper is when the chamber is positioned to give the same distance between the outer cylinder and the nearest point of the chambers
the inner distance to the center squeezes the extractor area. THere just aint room for the .479 diameter of the .45 ACP case. I agree the .40 S&W as a 5 shooter L-frame is an appealing package. So, be sat. with the 325 NG or 396 NG Randall Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. - Dylan Thomas |

Try the 6 shot .45 ACP M-325 PD.
At 21 oz. it's a pleasure to carry and it's just a cat hair larger than what you seek. I love mine. MOONDAWG |

Not something that can be done. However, as Spotteddog notes, this could be done in 40 S&W.

THere is the 386 Night Guard .44 Spcl 5 shot with the stainless Steel cylinder
Use the same material for the .40 S&W hmm. How about the 325 Night guard 6 shot .45 ACP it also as do all the NGs have a Stainless STeel cyl. and is 28 oz.for recoil management.
