I wish that S&W would combine the best features of the 45xx series and a 1911.
Similar to that of the 945, but double action and using standard 1911 parts for customizing. Proudly graded D- (by the Brady Campaign-State Gun Laws) |

That would be a great 45 pistol. I'd like a 4566 with a scandium frame, and no rails. 9, or 10 shot mag too, while I'm dreaming.
IMHO, S&W are too wrapped up in, and pushing, their polymer wonder in 45, to make any nice metal framed pistols. Why they never did something like a non PC, CQB 45, makes no sense to me. Then again, I can't think of anything the current company calling itself S&W, does, that makes any sense to me. Regards 18DAI. Model 19 Combat Magnum. Everything you need in a revolver, and nothing you don't. |

I see all of the things that Sig does with the P220 such as the integrated rail, steel or alloy frame and wonder why there is no attempt at this portion of the market.
Especially if they were able to use many 1911 parts. I suppose it would be more like a S&W refined version of the Para Ordnance LDA. I recently saw a 4506 sell for more than $800 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=94908275 http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=95196472 The market is there.
