I do not want a mechanical safety on a true pocket pistol. No matter how well-designed, the small size of such a pistol makes it tough sometimes just to get a fast and solid shooting grip, much less to manipulate some tiny switch. I regard a manual safety on such a piece as a design flaw.

SOUNDS LIKE A J FRAME TO ME =:-)

my wife carries an older colt govt 380...slightly larger than the mustang (yes, same series technically)..it's basically a mini 1911 with thumb flipper safety, etc..but I wouldn't carry it C&L in just a pocket..that safety isn't that stiff and I'd be worried about a misfire...deep cover gun..is a last resort gun and I'm fine with a DAO for that...but to your question if i understand it correctly..check out the old colt mustang series. I believe the smaller colt mustang meets your size, weight, and thinness requirements. I've yet to find another gun that compares.
YEA FOR THE COLT GOV'T 380! I have one that was tricked by Scott-McDougal and have carried it as my CCS for many years. Run many bangs through it, and not a single failure to fire or cycle. It's like pointing my finger at the target. ACS

I do not like safties on my pocket guns. If you are pulling a pocket pistola out during a moment of truth you want to get to shooting, not thinking about deactivating any safties.

There is a famous video from a Florida jewelry store robbery that I have seen about 6 times on different video shows on Spike, Court-TV, Fox, etc. The owner had a PPK in the small of his back. In walks a big black male who approaches the counter and starts to pull out a gun. The owner pulls his PPK and pulls the trigger three times and nothing happens. The robber shoots the owner several times. The owner explains in an interview that he got the drop on the robber but forgot to deactivate the safety.

How ,uch you wanna bet this guy had hardly ever fired the gun in practice, much less drawing from concealment?

I dislike manual safeties and will NOT carry any handgun that must have a manual safety engaged to be carried safely (yes, no 1911s for me). But if someone is gonna, they had well better be ready train and practice.

Train, train, and train some more! Taking off a safety should be "second nature" when drawing an autoloader. I was happy while carrying my Glock 20 "on duty." It had no safety to hamper my draw-and-fire sequence. Surviving my opponent was the prime directive.
