Would be neat to have a Model 30 or Model 31 made with an internal or shrouded hammer. I don't think any .32 Long's were made in this way, just .32 Mag's.

Well, we could always call for the return of the .32 Long 6-shot "I" frame (in Scandium) and ask for both 2 and 3 inch barrel lengths! Light, fast and mean!

Works for me!

You might get your wish, kinda. Wink I boldly predict that we will soon see the return of the 632 Centennial in .327 Federal Magnum. OTOH I don't see the steel-frame 30/31 (the line between the two is fuzzy) coming back from the dead unless a resurrected 631 or 632 really sells like hotcakes.

FWIW according to the SCSW you are correct- the book does not indicate that S&W ever made a Hand Ejector in .32 Long with a shrouded or enclosed hammer. The top-break .32 Safety Hammerless came with an enclosed hammer, but it was chambered in .32S&W, not .32 Long.

If we see it, it will likely be a 2 1/2" barreled .327 Fed. Mag.. Since Charter has just released it's "Patriot" 2 1/2" barreled large frame revolver in .327 Fed. Mag. It is up to S&W to "bring up the rear" by chambering the revolvers that they chamber for the .357 Magnum for the .327 Fed. Mag.. Colt and S&W are the only two "major" manufacturers that have yet to chamber their smaller-framed revolvers for the .327 Fed. Mag.. Hint, hint, hint...

I predict that S&W will introduce a 6 six shot .327 magnum within the next six months. Smiler

Why?

Because I just bought a leftover NIB model 432. Frowner

Don't feel too bad, the .32 H&R Magnum firing an 85 grain slug from a 2" barrel still generates 980 fpe and 181.31 fpe. I bought the Charter Arms "Undercoverette" about 8 months ago and haven't regretted it.

I agree S&W is sleeping at the wheel. I have several S&W 2 inch 32 Mag revovlers, they have been 100% reliable. Oh well, I just got info that Charter is making a 4 inch 327 6 shot revolver. It is called the Patriot, same frame size as their 357.

I am still tempted to take my cylinders to the drill press!! What is a few more PSI to a smith?

The first 2 1/2" "Patriot" revolvers were shipped a week ago. The 4" barreled, adjustable sight patriot will be shipped on May 2nd, 2008.

+ 10 for anything S&W would care to make in 32 Long or Mag. I would really love to see a run of a 1000 PC Model-16s made the way they use to be made.

Peyton, when you do let us know how that works out. If we don't hear back from you soon, we will assume the worst. Frowner
